I upgraded for BF3 and Skyrim, so nothing spent there. Blew $25 on station cash though.

Re: How much does Planetside 2 really cost you?

im about 4 grand at the moment.

i have not owned a computer since i became a truck driver in 2005(no time) and then me and my wife split up(she took it). like 2007. since then i havnt really even had a place of my own to set up a system.

when i heard planet side 2 was coming out i saved up all the money the first few months this year that i could and my income tax and went overboard. i use the computer for other stuff obviously but i would of maybe fixed my car or got new paintball equipment or something instead had it not been for the word on PS2. no game has ever hit that itch the same way since. most fps games are superbly lacking in comparison, even if they do have a good feel that keeps me playing as a time waister.

so now im rocking with 3 nice 24 inch screens playing games on high settings. both of which r first times in my life. i also spent 50 bucks on 4 gamepros for me and my brothers since i cant remember my old email password on account someone hacked my crap back in 2009.

when planetside 2 is released i plan on putting down the regular shelf price of a game like 50/60 bucks maybe more and then im going to aim for about 20$ a month after that unless the devs drop a bomb that my impulsivenessish self can not say no to.

I read about these people who are ditching 570s and 580s to get 670s/80s because that's what the Devs got and all I have to say is: If anyone doesn't want their 'old' 570 or 580, I'll take it off your hands.

Ditto! I'll take one, maybe two. Hell I can't even use it, but I'll take it!

I have a nvidia 460 that could probably run it fine on low to mid settings, but I need a new processor, which will require a new mobo to fit it, which will require me to buy new memory cause i'll need ddr3, and I want an SSD.... so might as well get the gpu upgraded too

I bought a 580 last year. I'm not about to go wasting money on a 670 or 680. If anything i will upgrade monitor/SSD/ new mouse.

$1500 so far. But, I may go further if my video cards are not able to run the game on full.

My system's pretty old, so I was needing upgrades anyway. I can't run Witcher 2 worth a damn and Skyrim doesn't run well either. So I'm going to have to spend about $450 for computer upgrades. But as I said I needed to for my rampant PC gaming in general.

I spent $10 on station cash when they were having a double cash sale, though. So there's that.

But... how much money have you all spent upgrading or completely rebuilding your systems? Are you lucky enough to already have a nice rig that will run the game?

I am personally struggling to decide if I want to spend the money to build a new computer that is capable of running Planetside 2. For the record, I built my current computer in the summer of 2005. My specs are an AMD Athlon FX-57, a 9800 GTX+, 4 Gigs of Corsair XMS PC3200 memory, and a 300GB Raptor. If that's not an old rig, I don't know what is.

I'm willing to bet at least 40% of the Planetside player-base has spent at least $100 or more tweaking/upgrading/completely rebuilding their computers to be able to play Planetside 2.

So, how much have you spent on Planetside 2?
Maybe 40% of the ps player base has to upgrade. But for the average gamer absolutely not. And for the competitive gamer hell no. What are you smoking? I've got over 200 members and haven't heard of one single person upgrading anything. I don't really know of anyone that games with me that doesn't run at least a 1 gig video memory, dual core, 4 gigs ram. And that would run this game just fine. Maybe not ultra settings or whatever but it will run it well.

Personally I couldn't buy anything that would upgrade my rig so $0.

But i'll probably spend around $500 on in game stuff or more if they have things to by. I'd spend $1000 to insta upgrade everything but doubtful that will be an option.

And finally, your rig will run the game just fine. Not ultra settings or whatever but it will run just fine.

Well I broke down this morning and ordered a OCV 120 gb SSD and a Zalman 9900 nt heatsink/fan for my new build. Bf3 was causing my cpu to run hot, it seems fine on idle then my temps soar when playing BF3 on ultra for a few hours.

Current Build
MSI 890fxa gd70 mobo
Gskill Ripjaws series 1333 16gb
(2) Iceqx Raedon HD 6950 2gb
Cooler Master Silent Pro 700 watt psu
AMD FX 8150 3.6 (stock) need to get my new heat sink in to OC
Zalman 9900 nt heat skink
OCV 120 gb hd
Western Digital 1.5 tb @ 7200 HD
NZXT case (Orange)
4 120mm green led case fans
-----------------------------------
Razer Naga Mouse
Razer speed mouse pad
Logitech g110 keyboard

-----------------------------------
This is an early pic of when I first built it a few months back. Was still missing a few of the led fans and what not. And believe me if I was in the tech test I would have never took the time to post all this
