Because they are all actually pop music. Popular music. Punk has a large fanbase to be considered common as well. Almost everything is common enough that the reason people like it(it makes them feel unique, or a select group) isn't true at all. Music has become a massive crap fest in general. Then again, it was never really good, but at least they tried sort of. Now it's a desperate attempt to make money. Rage against the machine makes me laugh quite a bit also. Their name implies they are against corporate america and such, but are a part of it, and make huge sums of money through it. Anyway, rant off.

Anyways, I just listen to what I like. I don't know if its jazz or whatever, I just like it and listen to it. Friends will listen to some of my playists and then come to a heavy rock song and theyre like "wtf".
I like many songs sung japanese because often they come from shows I know and like, and I dont know what they are saying. I like not knowing what theyre saying, and just listening to the melody.
