You guys realise that Closed Beta will have people from all over the world in right? That's the beauty of playing on the internet - you get to a very large pool of people to chose from and within that 'community' you can select the best beta testers. If you guys don't think some of us will be from Europe you're kidding yourselves.

Speaking hypothetically the last thing you'd want is to open the US server up to EU players live, only to realise it just didn't work on mass. - Same goes for EU servers for US folk too, or any other country for that matter - plenty of regions in the world out there.

I was speaking about testing ping time, packet loss etc, so I am not sure where that came from

What i find most annoying about this whole discussion is the whole "it's not a right its a privilege" argument. Take for example Basti. Hes from Europe. Do you think he won't immediatly get into beta? (if he isn't allready) And why is he being let in? Because he would probably rage endlessly and would think its unfair. Getting into beta is a very emotional thing (many people would probably also call it childish) But being rational about it won't change the emotional side of it. Like i said from a rational standpoint i would fully understand why Europeans would come in later, but from an emotional one i would have a mix of sadness and disappointment. Now a moment of me being selfish. Why don't they just let the EU vets in and wait with for example the EU PC Gamer keys? How many EU vets are there anyway? Probably not more than 100-200.

Now that that's out.... looking forward to the haircutting cermony, and let's all rejoice in the start of beta.

Lag is the issue, the game is still in what seems late alpha stages.
They want to finish fixing the bugs, and adding a ton of lag will not help.

Yes but it'd be necessary before release, as release will have lag. That is how you find bugs, to test it.

We can assume, but no one knows. Lets keep all these questions to the beta threads please otherwise the whole front page will only be beta questions...
