Here's a few pre-reqs. REMEMBER...these are subject to change as we go forward in beta. Be prepared for those changes.
That being said: You have to buy Agile Armor before being able to buy any other armors. This seems like trouble, but it's actually very good. It makes your character much more flexible. However, it costs a few points. Each config of a MAX is currently a separate cert also. (anti-vehicle, anti-air, anti-infantry). You typically have to buy a "base model" cert to get "advanced" versions of the same vehicle. For instance, the Marauder is really a heavy buggy. Therefore you usually have to certify with Harasser before you can certify in Marauder. Lightning is still a pre-req for the heavier tanks also. Some certs are quite obvious that you need a pre-req. For instance, you need Hacking before you can certify in Advanced Hacking. Air vehicles don't have pre-reqs, but they do have larger cert costs because of how useful they are. I think that covers most of it. Remember...this is all subject to change. BTW...my usual play style is to be the biggest thorn in the enemy's side as possible. Thus, I typically go Agile/Wraith/Infiltration/Combat Engineering/Hacking/Adv Hacking. There's a few others (I'm always attracted to Repair), but that's the basic "SmokeJumper" template. I rely on knives and grenades, as well as the "generosity of others" (e.g., their corpse loot). I tend to pick up either Surge or Regen implants once I get to Rank 6, and I swap them back and forth depending on whether I'm deploying or running saboteur raids. My other character (name undisclosed) is more of a vehicle-centric person with a tendency toward offense (AMS/Agile/Reinforced/MAX anti-vehicle/Medium Assault/Special Assault and I pick up Second Wind and/or Personal Shield implants usually.). This will probably all change as I change with the game, but that's what I play currently. Tip when you get into the game: DO THE TRAINING! You get xp enough by exploiting the training to get your first couple of battle ranks...which gives you more cert points to spend.

Oh yeah...I think there's a weapons pre-req also. I'm pretty sure you have to take Medium Assault Weapons to get to the Special Assaults, Anti-Vehicular and Sniper categories. Not sure...but I think so. Again...this is subject to change.

Ok in case he comes back.
2 things. You say you swap implants? Can you do that instantly and change them in a few seconds or is there a time limit on it ? If we do the training later on do we still get same amount of XP, i'm assuming yes but just in case. |

Loot implants? Eww! Sounds messy. Need a :blowchunks: smiley. Something like: >0===*
Oh, and as for certs? Char 1: commander type guy Shortest path between starting character and an AMS, followed by shortest path to a MAX. Char 2: tank guy Lightening engineering (plus mbt, and anything else that might make this guy an uber-tanker) Char 3: medic medic advanced medic (plus medium assault, agile suit, reinforced suit, followed by whatever squad-support stuff I can come up with... basic eng for armor repair, that sort of thing) |
