Brusi: perfect.

And so long as we're going scatalogical:

Burp, fart, & vomit These could probably be shared across all voices.

"Retreat!"/"Fall back!"/"Advance to the rear!"

"Take cover!"

Aliens-esque:
"Lets rock!" (should always be said while firing)
"Fire in short, controlled bursts" (Hicks, to Ripley)

Should have thought of that too.

And "Nuke 'em from orbit, its the only way to be sure".

I'm guessing some of this could cause serious copyright issues. It'd still be funny.

And if SOE made it so folks could create and distribute their own voice macros... well it'd hardly be THEIR fault if some users started spamming movie clips.

Re: Additional voice macros

I like the spot/order menu in the BF games, could use that idea along with a wheel mechanic or something like that that I've seen in other games.

I want to see all voice macros be individually bindable, but as far as spotting or reporting enemy units...

- "Enemy spotted"
- "Incoming!" (just a general statement, nothing specific)

For the "incoming" and "enemy" spotted, I woudl like to see the BF mechanic where we sort of automatically call out what we see. I don't want to see 3D spotting or any of that garbage, but I would like to see something where if I have a target in the vicinity of my crosshairs if I push the button it says "Enemy tanks spotted!"

As I said, not 3d Spotting, but it could be smart "Enemy infantry spotted, 100 meters SE" and let those in earshot figure it out.

Tactical "We need" macros would be nice, "We need X"...

"We need air cover!"
"We need armor!"
"We need MAX units!"
"We need jetpack infantry!" (or whatever you want to call it)
"We need AA!"
"We need AT!"
"We need a transport!"

Resources could work too...
"We need auraxium!"

Commands:
"Go go go!!" (CS got this one right!)
"Hold position!"
"Stand your ground!"
"Fall back!"
"Flank left!"
"Flank right!"
"Move up!"
"Press the attack!"
"Stay together!"
"Spread out!"
"Get to cover!"
"Covering fire!"

Warnings:
"Enemy ahead!"
"Enemy flanking left!"
"Enemy flanking right!"
"Enemy behind us!"
"Incoming aircraft!"
"Incoming MAX units!"
"Incoming armor!"
"Incoming infantry!"

(the above are independent of the "spot" feature mentioned above)

"Drop drop drop!!" (I agree with Fire and like this one a lot)
"10s til go time!!" (I generalized Fire's drop-time and breach counter...could change it to 5s, or have both versions)

All commands should only be hearable by units in your own faction IMO. They aren't for talking trash but for coordinating. Other voice macros could be usable for all to hear/taunting/distraction/diversion/etc.

A "melvin".

Its a movie industry term for a particular scream audio clip that gets used a lot. There are several instances in the original Star Wars trilogy. In "A new hope", when storm troopers are falling right before Luke & Leia swing across that bottomless pit. There's one in Return of the Jedi when someone falls into the Sarlac pit.

heh. You can actually hear the star wars music in the background. But I assure you, its a commonly used clip from all over.

We have soldiers with jet packs. We NEED:

"On the bounce!" (Starship troopers reference, from the BOOK, not those 5th rate movies)

The book was great! Very detailed and technical explanations of the equipment used in the book.

Corrected. Sorry, the Star Wars geek in me couldn't let that slide. And yeah, it is used in soooooo many movies and commercials.

Re: Additional voice macros

I was just browsing through these, and I did not see "Follow Me" anywhere, which got me thinking...

I am envisioning a ton of new players that aren't sure what to do, and having seasoned players be able to give them tactical direction will be really good.

Things such as the following would be good directives. (Not necessarily said this exact way)
"Suit up in Heavy Armor"
"Refill Your Ammo"
"Follow Me"
"Give Suppressing Fire"
"Pull Vehicles"
"Pull Aircraft"
"Move Inside"
"Move Outside"
"Stay Together"
"We go on. . . three. . . two. . . one. . . GO GO GO!"

Pretty much voice macros are used to replace common statements that are made in non-combat situations (like: Greetings, Hail, Excellent) or for replacing commands in combat situations (like: follow me, defend the control console, repair our generator, incoming troops, we need repairs).

The point that I am making is that having commands for non-combat situations is probably not needed in the voice macro list. Example: "Use a Cert Terminal". This is probably not needed as there should be time to write it out and it is not common. Also, the command is probably not explicit enough. (You probably want to tell them to cert a particular thing.) In combat, macros like I outlined about really should be included so you can shout them at people while running and gunning.

Re: Additional voice macros

Thats quite a good point...

I know that i don't really use and voice commands that don't start rwith "V, V..." simply because there are already a fair amount. Putting them in, but making them "/em dosomething" commands rather than all being tied to the quick command list tree is a good idea.

The ability to create your own custom macros from PS could then allow players to make their own shortcuts to less common commands in PS2

I just hope they don't make to many voice macro's squad only, in PS shouting " follow me " didn't really work if people weren't in your squad.
