At some point in the near future, we'll see all that come on line, probably as VS-only at first, but the other two will pick it up or lose. Since they didn't lose, they clearly learned how to do it too. Probably long after all the traditional manufacturing facilities have been dome-blastered to smoking ruin. Long enough that the surviving stuff gets Vigorously and Destructively Used. So the only thing left to use as a template is the beat up and chipped stuff we see in all those screen shots. The VS might know how to introduce new objects to be copied without using a template object, which would explain why all their gear is bright and shiny (designed it that way), while the other two empires' gear are in varying degrees of "shot to hell and gone". |

Lots of answers in tomorrow and Friday's updates!
This is part 1 of chapter 1 of the backstory and is more "modern" history. After this chapter we're going WAY BACK into the pre-auraxis history. I'm glad you guys are enjoying! |

I'm interested into reading alot of the backstory and stuff.
But whenever I look into an MMO and check out the story, I just want the bottom-line upfront. When I see a wall of text, I just skip it because I'm not interested in the game yet and it's that way with an RPG too. I don't want to feel like I need to commit a chunk of my time to reading something just to have an idea of what is happening. Hook me in before you give me short-stories that have no effect on anything. |

Gray, c'mon. Was it really that long? I mean for lore, I thought it was pretty brief, but still done in a way that wasn't just Basil Exposition.
EDIT: oh yeah, and if you just want bullet points, you go to the FAQ, right? Last edited by Raymac; 2011-10-12 at 06:10 PM. |

Also, this sentence is incomplete:
"He saw the shock of red hair in the back. Genny Jones was talking with Billy Pelz, a recent recruit no older that eighteen unless he had lied about his age. A lot of the kids did these days. " A lot of the kids these days what? |

Whatever it is it has to be galaxy portable, and I think it's probably an infantry weapon. He listed it last, which means it's probably something specialized and relatively uncommon. Given that the rest of the list is entirely anti-infantry weapons, I'd guess that it's some form of anti-armor equipment. Lie about their age. Last edited by Talek Krell; 2011-10-12 at 06:17 PM. |

It showed a couple things that were different between the first PS and now but it just feels like a shortly/hastily written fanfic to me and if someone who knows nothing of the first Planetside reads it they literally have 0 insight into the game. What we got was. 1)Wormhole (although it was nearly implied it wasn't around until the end of the post) 2)VS are neutrol (I don't see how you peacefully break yourself from an "oppressive" regime or even 2 warring empires) 3)NC were businessmen and Private Contractors 4)125 years of terraforming and colonisation on Auraxis. Right now we're not aware of the state of respawning in the game, a prison doesn't imply either but a Prison would be especially useful to contain the enemy and prevent them from spawning/having access to their matrix. I'm also curious why the Corporal became a Private mid-conversation.... |

Pretty sure Duffy has been alive for those 175 years. Nanites prevent degradation thus what ever would be on the planet would be hard to kill thus the banding together and the colonists would still be alive. Could see this long life driving obsession in trying to understand it thus VS. Just one more crazy theory.
