Many people are not playing these "obscure" games for a reason: It's too hard for them. The learning curve is ridiculously steep, something the average Joe doesn't want to climb, thus the level of skill required to compete with the best is something they never attain.

Someone who is ridiculously good at Team Fortress Classic or Fortress Forever would completely trash everyone in a game of Team Fortress 2, because TF2 is a very simple game compared to the other TF games.

If a TF2 player tried to play TFC or FF, they would get annihilated because if they had the skill to not get annihilated in the first place, they wouldn't be playing TF2 and would instead be playing the better games.

I, and many of these other people that play these less popular games, play them because the mainstream titles are too easy and boring for us. We play harder games because we like the challenge and depth they provide.

Please, keep to your less popular games. I don't want you playing any that I play.

Nah, some people just do not have common sense, doesn't mean they can't Ace a written test or fly a plane and land it without anyone dieing.

As for that person, I hope someone already straitened them out the difference between an independent developer and a development studio/firm with publisher backing is not a matter of publicity or funding but of team size. Or at least if a the developer(s) is backed by a publisher or not.

Yes the meaning of indie was straitened out, thanks, however ignorance does not mean a lack of intelligence.

I really do have to laugh at all these hipster gamers, though, iv been playing path of exile with a bunch of my guild for the last 2 weeks and the Diablo 3 hate in the game is speewing, so many saying its so much better and with more depth than diablo 3, etc etc....then you get into D3 beta...Diablo 3 is Diablo 3...Path of Exile is D2 clone, there is no comparing it to D3.

Love the D3 beta, a very solid game. Even as a very, very casual D2 fan (never could get really into it) I enjoyed myself a lot playing around in it and I loved the worlds. I think hipster people themselves are funny because there are plenty of people trying to be so anti-mainstream that its sort of mainstream.
