Hit indicators

Hi i just watched the video of Higby playing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=017I9ghLsYA

and i noticed there was no hit indicator that i could see, i hope there is one a visual and a small audio indicator would be good.

Like in COD4 where it would give little grey lines in the cross hair and a small tick sound.

It could be that i missed them.... or that Higby just misses all the time he is a smurf after all

I know I saw hit indicators in the E3 videos exactly like they are in CoD. Might only do it on certain weapons or they could have removed them.

I liked MAG's system: the little X ala CoD with a "plink" audio byte for successful head shots.

Yep there are indeed circular on hit indicators, though the light yellow coloring and low opacity makes them a bit hard to see. I hope they bump them up a tad. Do I recall correctly that UI modding will be supported in PS2?

I'd rather there not be hit indicators. If there's gonna camouflage (even if its only partial), I just don't think there should be a magic indicator that tells if you hit a well hidden infiltrator versus a rock or shadows. Maybe it's just my preference.

The camo isn't really meant to be usable so much as cool cosmetic touches. After all as it stands, you can just spot someone if aiming at them anyways.

Would be cool though if you could through certs or something gain access to a cloaking suit that doesn't allow you to be spotted.

Camo isnt 100% effective but has MUCH more use than mere cosmetic touches. I am aware that it's not complete camo and It won't make you blend in completely but if used right can make it significantly harder to be spotted by enemy players. Yes you can spot someone if aiming at them, but you have to be looking right at their position first (I dearly hope you can't just spam the spot button like other games). On the otherhand, with hit indicators you can just give a quick sweeping spray at any dark area or rock formation and it'd definitively tell you if an enemy was there whether or not you saw or spotted him (much more possible with TR type weapons).

Looks like the poor quality of the stream is making it hard to see, but it is still there.

I dont think we need hit indicators this isn't COD its fairly easy to judge a hit and there is enough information given if you lose a fire fight to know if you caused your foe damage and where etc.

Also I hope they allow for manual reloading because I know most snipers are going to get annoyed they cant see their bullet hit because of the reload animation

Why would we want that? You shouldn't be able to look for people by spraying
