now, that the launch of ps2 is ahead, how will the developement change?
we all know that the game isn´t nearly finished, and that it will never be because of the planned ongoing developement. so how will things change after beta? will the devs go on like they do now? with throwing new ideas into the game for some weeks, to test out how it plays? or will there be a specific testserver for this purpose? i am fine with both options, as long as the devs keep up their excellent listening to the playerbase. but it would be nice to know what is planned!

Probably a test server. Hell, PS1 had one.

They will go hard for awhile.
They are working on the next three continents. A new weapon type the submachinegun (even though im not a fan), assault buggies, and hopefully base revamps. Then there is the weird player built bases which I cant picture in my beloved Planetside quite yet, but still being conceptualized nonetheless. And all the camo, armor cosmetics, and weapon sidegrades. First 6 months to a year will be interesting at least. We dont really know their long term goals other then the possibility of expanding to space stations and seamless integration of travel between continents like Naval warfare. But these are just ideas at this point. |

Hopefully they can take a week off and relax. If you watch them on twitter and forums and such they're pulling really long days. It can't be healthy to be working crunch time hours for too long so they need some rest.
Also having a 3 GB patch every week is kind of crazy. I know most people can handle it with their internet, but there's a couple people in my outfit who have bandwidth caps and can't be downloading so much. So hopefully we'll see less frequent updates but more meat to them as they iron some things out and get started on new additions. |

well in my opinion this crunch is gone last at least 2-3 more weeks after launch due to the fact that this game needs a good debut or it will fail drastically. sadly for the devs that i believe deserve some rest . but we do all know that without a 4th continent ; for continent locking ps2 is not gone go very far.

They will have a test server. And they will make major changes. SOE for better or worse have never been shy about making massive changes post launch to their games. Sometimes like with SWG it burned them pretty bad. Which is why I really wish they would put up community polls or something like they said they were going to do with announcing the 5 year plan or whatever it was. I like their ambition with how they are willing to completely rework a game from the ground up to something they think will be better. But should ask the players first.

id say to test huge changes or even simple game play mechanics they would need a test server like every other game.
to keep messing with a live server with thousands playing on it would mess up the gameplay. i vote test server
