Star Wars the Old Republic. What do you think?

I was pretty excited about this game, until I saw it at PAX East Live. In playable form.

Looks like every other MMO, plays like the same exact thing as WoW/Rift. Thats the impressions I got from it. Am I missing something else?

btw preorder is up..and people are not happy. LOL You can preorder the digitial edition. BUT are not likely to get the copy on time..Yes this is a Digtial Copy..Unreal

Seems to be nothing new whatsoever. Another WoW clone but with lightsabers.

That being said, it'll probably succeed just cos it's Star Wars, but I dont think it'll bring anything worth checking out to the genre, though.

I'll be passing on this one, pressing 1-8 for my lightsaber attacks = fail. Just another wow clone, with voice acting.

While playing a Sith would be awesome, I think I'm passing on this one too. The Planetside 2 news has pretty much made me put all my eggs in this basket.

Ever since PS2 has been announced I really could care less for ANY other game.

I almost got rid of my MW3 pre-order... but my friends IRL play it... so it'll be a good distraction until PS2

A few months back on APB forums I wrote that currently theres nothing coming out that would really interest me enough to prioritize it over APB (not even zomg BF3), except for Planetside Next/2 if/when it ever happens.

Now with the announcement and other official stuff, that's even more so true

I was real hyped about this game, Sith Marauder.. Fantastic!

Until.. I realised it's not a TRUE MMO... it's 8 vs 8... So.. PlanetSide already beats it's it in my books, and PlanetSide 2 will just piss over it methinks..

Oh Wait.. Lemme see what else £50 for the standard & £130 for the collector's?.. Are they mad?..

Still despise the dreadful art direction, only a few steps up from WoW in aesthetics imo

I'm a Star Wars geek, so certainly biased, but I'm still totally looking forward to this game. It's a totally different game than Planetside so it will scratch the PvE itch when I get it.

I'm not sure why you guys would be so against it because it "looks like WoW". That's kinda like saying "The LOTR movies will be lame because they are just a Willow clone". It's an mmorpg.

Basically, the settings for SW:TOR look absolutely stunning, and the voice acting is cool but may get old after awhile. Frankly, I decided I was buying it when the first cinematic came out.

When I want to chill and play an RPG, I'll play Star Wars. When I want some adreneline rush action, I'll be logging into PS2. (mostly I'll be playing PS2) So, I've got my gaming life planned out for the next 5 years or so. lol

The game sounded a lot better when it was just a rumor. It gets worse each time there is an update.
