Exclamation PlanetSide Graphics Card Compatibility Thread

OK, I'm seeing a lot of complaints about "the game says it can't find a Direct3D device WTF do I do?!?!" This error is caused by you having too crappy of a graphics card to actually run the game. In lieu of all these complaints, I think it'd be a prudent idea for us to establish a PlanetSide Graphics Card Compatibility Thread. I'll list the cards known to be compatible with PlanetSide (any other tech-savvy guys catch me if I make mistakes.) Revisions are welcome, and if your card is not on this list, most likely PlanetSide WILL NOT WORK ON YOUR MACHINE WITHOUT AN UPGRADE.

Without further ado, the list:

NVidia:
GeForce 256
GeForce DDR

GeForce2 MX 200
GeForce2 MX 400

S3:

You're kidding, right?

Intel:

See above.

There's the list as it stands. If I made any errors (are the original Radeons hardware T&L capable?) then please correct me.

Nice list, but as a note their official list is far shorter:

ATI:
7500
8500
8500 LE
9000 Pro
9700 Pro

Matrox Parhelia

Geforce:
2
3
4

If you have any other card, they DO NOT offer official support when the game goes live. Also, they have "prefered" drivers which you should always change to if you mainly intend to play Planetside with. For all GeForces it is currently the Detonator 40.72. Check their Support in the beta site) under Video Troubleshooting, under suported video cards for more driver listings.

Left off the Radeon 9100 Pro heh. As for the original Radeons like the 64 Vivo all had T&L. That was a long time ago. Back in the day when ATI had the original Rage Fury MAXX's baby. Always wished ATI kept the MAXX technology going, would love a 9800 Pro MAXX!!!

As for S3, they actually annouced last month a new board named the Delta Chrome F1 that stat wise looks good, but the Parhelia looked good on paper also but suked. Also there is supposed to be some new board in the under $100 market from someone that matches a G4600.

Actually, according to some SoE members, the Parhelia actually runs suprisingly well with Planetside.

Well only someone who got the card to test with or who is a die hard matrox fan would buy that card. Its something like $439, making it no where near as good as a 9800 Pro, I don't care what anyone at SoE says.

Kiwi, we'll see. The GF2 is very similar to the GeForce 1, so I do think someone with one should be able to run the game with it. I'll revise if we get news to the opposite, of course.

And Daleon, the 8500 is the 9100. I've noted that in the list.

EDIT: the hell? What's this idiotic edit limit?! When did this happen?!

I think it also should be noted that just because the card can run the game does not mean you will even get 30+ FPS on the lowest settings. This game kills lots of higher end computers, let alone ones from over a year ago.
