ADS view movement (the scope "lagging" behind) in PS2 vs BF3 (short video)

This has been brought up several times but no one provided any actual visual example.

I'm not a fan of the way your view and the scope constantly misalign whenever you try turn fast while ADSing, both with scopes and iron sights. It impairs my ability to quickly and accurately switch targets. PS2 takes it way overboard IMO, compared to ARMA2 and even BF3

Here's an example of PS2 compared to BF3

You can see how drastic it is with the NC carbine. Basically, I think it needs to be toned down.

Anyone else feel this way?

(even with the faults of BF3 gunplay like extreme random bullet deviation, the game has some of the best feeling guns in recent years)

Agreed, it's too much. I would also like them to tone down the scope jumping from nearby explosions or stepping on a small rock.

Yeah I agree, it is very annoying. And as Sturmhardt says, they also need to tone down the scope jumping if explosions happen nearby and when you step down/up on a rock and all other terrain height differences.

One of those annoying things about gun play PS2.

Hense the reason why i only use Iron sights.

It's actually worse with iron sights when you look at the way the NC carbine
behaves

This makes CQC combat difficult

Tried posting it on Reddit and the official forums, both threads buried (PS2 forums understandble, the traffic is insane). I guess not that many people find it an issue

As I've said before; when it changes, people will appreciate the change.

They just accept it right now.

On the front page now. I get the feeling the words "BF3" seem to throw everyone into a hissy fit, even though that game has some of the best feeling weapons in recent years purely from an animations and sounds standpoint

I agree Sturmovik, this really bugs me about the gunplay in PS2. It could be tightened up so much and would really help the 'feel' of the combat. I am forced into using an IRNV scope simply because it gets rid of this annoying and off-putting scope lag.

Agreed. It's very annoying.
One of the few things (imho) BF3 gunplay does pretty well.

Still don't see this as a problem. This is nothing to what is in ARMA 2, go to around the 4 minute mark to see yourself. (at 9:00 is a CQC gun fight)

The difference is that in ARMA where the gun points matter a hell of a lot more than in PS2 and you had to take EVERYTHING slow an steady or you wouldn't hit shit. If you didn't wait for the gun to adjust you wouldn't hit on target at all. Even that minor shaking from being cold was enough to make your aiming shit. Hell, you can't even move faster than a walk and fire a weapon, let alone be able to hit a damned thing that's not 1 foot in front of you.

It's not that bad in PS2. It's one of the things that make it not just another arcade FPS. You have to take account of things if you're going into battle or you are going to get killed. This sounds like one of the many L2P posts and well it is. I can't seem to word it otherwise. PS2 is its own beast with its own gunplay. Adapt or fail, your choice. All it takes is a little bit of time and knowing your weapon.

Chewy,

I don't think we want anything like ARMA.

In a game where we have jetpacks, unlimited sprint, and no prone, I think scope drag is a negative feature.

As far as I can see you're the one voice advocating this in a crowd of many who would like to see it toned down.

Didn't really notice the drag until now (don't ADS much)...

You've ruined ADS for me now... QQ

Well I didn't bring ARMA into this, SturmovikDrakon did.

"PS2 takes it way overboard IMO, compared to ARMA2 and even BF3"

If he thinks that PS2s aiming is anything like ARMA 2 then he doesn't play ARMA 2. It's part of the sim-ish things PS2 does. In PS2 bullets fire from the gun and it needs to be the thing that moves to affect and show recoil, movement affecting aim, high COF from near explosions, and more or less anything that affects aiming ADS or by hip. In BF bullets come out of the screen and don't take the gun into account, that makes it an arcade shooter.

Watch some videos on BF3 and you'll see that even though the guns move all over the place when the player moves it never affects the bullets path. It's also the reason you can fire over top of cover in BF3 with just the top of your head exposed and not your weapon.

PS2 isn't just another arcade FPS that everyone has been forced to play for the last few years. It combines sim and arcade elements to make itself its own game. That's why I love it. The game makes you think that you're in a war and not an ungodly trooper. You need to play as a human who is getting shot and killed in the unknown hell that is war. Become better or die. Learn from the deaths and take your time to make the right choice.

Then again Iv played Day Z for near 300 hours since I learned about it and am more than likely biased in ways to the sim parts. Me putting 300 hours into one game is to fucking huge for me to get a grasp of when I don't put more than 20 in most other games.
