Hey there folks, im Charly Rocknoise.
Some very old players may know me as Admiral on Werner.

In PS1 i loved to fight for NC on Werner since the release.
Did see the pure version, later core combat and also the split of auraxis.
I have two CR5 Chars, an NC and a VS. I gained them by leading in the biggest Outfits very early. I experienced hundreds of hours in leading squads, platoons also smaller, bigger and daily events.
Those 4.5 years i was actively playing gave me so much experience to games at all.
To me it is the only game where u can fulfill the mens instincts ... to make war ... but without hurting anyone. Its peaceful and has nothing to do with violence in the real life.
So much for that.
Due to my several commanding roles, i kept doing that also in other shooters like bf3, apb:r for the last years. But never got that things i was used to. U know, persistent world, with your favorit fighting spots, aso. Also i dont like Elves and Dwarfs, what means i cant play 48% of the online games. Another 50% are Manga games, which i also dont like ... 2% lasts and nothing of it is comparable to what i experienced in ps1.

To be honest.... since i quit ps1 years ago, i never found a game that gave me that feeling. In special the team-feeling. I played BF3 lately and its a fine game (with some bugs i cant understand they didnt fixed em yet) ... but from the view of a planetsideplayer it is like using a caterpillar in your garden. u cant go out ... there is no map anymore. i got itches flying a jet in that game. "Takeoff! Hard turn !! 3 sec flying, Hard turn!! ... aso. No and NO!!

So finally, like u, im waiting for Planetside2. And i thought lets join discussions a bit and here i am.

Hope to have useful discussions with u all. i try to bring in some experiences from my point of view.

Welcome to the forum! I totally agree on PS being a unique experience as well. I never found a game that has filled that void. Hopefully PS2 will deliver that to us.
