Beta sign-ups are now open.
If you haven't registered, you need to register and there's a box at the bottom that you need to click to sign up for it. http://www.swtor.com/user/register/ If you already have an account, go to your Account Management page and sign up. The website crapped out for maintenance as I was attempting to do so, so I'm not sure... but I think the URL is: http://www.swtor.com/tester/ If you're looking for a "guild", Black Widow Company is going Sith. http://www.the-bwc.com |

BWC going Sith? I may have to join up with you guys. Because while I know that a few CDLers will be playing The Old Republic, I don't think we'll have enough to make a positive impact on the game. Plus I also have a feeling a majority of them will go Jedi.

Yeah, we held a vote. We decided it's time to play the bad guys. And I think more than a few valid arguments were made for the fact that each side is going to have fanbois, and something about the Sith apparently have a more militant and rigid structure.
I'm going to get in-game and take all the Vader and Maul name combinations just to be a dick. |

Ive been watching this game closely ever since it was announced. Ill probably start off as a Bounty Hunter. Jedi/Sith are cool and all, but I have a feeling there will be shitloads of them at launch.

I can't seem to sign up, just keep sending my back to the first step.
Nvm, it straightened itself out. And now IE is choking on the scan...fucking idiots can't make this junk work in Safari? Last edited by Baneblade; 2009-10-01 at 11:20 AM. |

I've heard of similar problems. I personally didn't have any at all.
For browsing and registering: 1) When you register, there's a chance that it will have you enter your detailed information and then send you back to the registration screen. Immediately go to your email and look for the SW:TOR registration confirmation email. Activate your account. 2) Go back and log in normally, then at the top-right click "My Account" once it says "Welcome back, [displayname]". Edit your basic information and check off "Yes, sign me up for beta". 3) If it keeps sending you to Detailed Information, just keep submitting. After two or three times of doing that plus the Game Tester terms and conditions, it should start the system scan. ============ For the system scan: 1) First step you need to do is lower ALL of your internet browser security settings, focusing mostly on the automatic downloading of any ActiveX types of functions. You need them to download themselves, not requiring permissions. 2) Update Flash to the latest version. 3) Update Java to the latest version. 4) Do the system scan. |

I ran into strange issues too.
I had to enter my personal info like 3 times, then the system scan kept failing. Finally I was going to give it one more chance and it worked. What I don't understand is why they don't just accept a DXDiag file because the system information they collect is all right there.. why add additional shenanigans. |

I won't even BEGIN to detail the pure HELL I went thru to get signed up. Most painful process I've ever encounter in my 35+ years of dealing with computers.
Idiot who designed that should be stung upside down and force fed ex-lax and then shot. 'tis done but I'll tell ya - arrrrrrrrrgggggggg |

I've registered three beta accounts and thus far, haven't had any problems except for not clicking the activation link for registration, and on one I didn't update Java and Flash on the computer before attempting system scan. Their website *was* bugged for a bit due to the stress load.
