How do I activate windowed mode

Hey everybody,
I'm desperately trying to find out how to activate windowed mode for PS2. Neither hitting alt+enter nor using the respective option on the settings menu helps, as the screen just turns black in both cases and returns to normal full screen mode after a second or two.

Is that a general problem or just an individual one? Is there a workaround for this?
