Planetside: The Auraxis Conflict
Plot Synopsis By John M. White IV *Inspired by the MMOFPS, Planetside.* Part One - Alien Discovery, and the Missing WormHole. The Terran Republic is THE dominant force on Planet Earth. Behind military might and diplomatic shrewdness, the Republic had established absolute rule over all the Nations of the World. Over 1,112 years of Peace was ushered in with the advent of the Republic's rule. Major technological advances were made, such as Space Travel, and powerful machines of war. With this technology, Terran scientists made an amazing discovery. A Wormhole in the Solar System, possibly leading to other Planets, or even other Galaxies. In a hurry to discover what lies behind the WormHole, the Terran Republic scrambled Soldiers and Scientists aboard a fleet of Capital Ships, led by the Massive BattleShip, the TRBS (Terran Republic Battle Station) Emerald. This massive fleet of ships formed what was known as the Military Expeditionary Force, and was lead by Commander Dalton Dainwell. The M.E.F. deployed into the Wormhole, and settled on a new Planet. They named this Planet Auraxis, and set out to colonize it. The orders from the Terran Command were to turn Auraxis into a Weapon Manufacturing Planet. The M.E.F. set in motion the construction of several weapon plants and bases, while sending scouting platoons to scour the surface of the planet looking for the unusual. The Movie opens to a rolling, hilly meadow, approximately 20 years after the colonization of Auraxis. This is the continent of Cyssor, where the final construction is taking place. Only a few operational bases, and sub-bases exist on the Northern half of Cyssor, and the South has yet to be explored and built upon. As if following something, the hills roll by and a frantic speed, a faint silhouette visible against the green grass. The hills slow down gradually, until they come to a complete stop. Then out of practically nowhere, a man on an ATV materializes. He takes out a pair of binoculars out of the trunk of his ATV and he looks over the horizon. He uses a radio mounted on his wrist to communicate with someone. He then hops back on his ATV and and darts off into the woods, his ATV dematerializing with him on it. Cut to a Control Room on the Continent of Cyssor, in the Amp Station Ekera. There are various military personnel working diligently, while two men overlook. These two men are Commander Ignius Markov, and Lieutenant Commander Johari Greenwood, of the Terran Republic. Commander Markov took Command over from Commander Dainwell on the passing of the aging War Veteran. Markov and Greenwood share a brief conversation, and it is fairly obvious that neither bear any particular liking for each other. A deck officer relays the message sent by the invisible scout to the Commander, and he acknowledges it, sending Lt. Commander Greenwood on a task. Lt. Commander Greenwood heads to his quarters. While inside, he sheds his Officer Garb and pulls out a set of battered body armor. He is not a typical 'Desk Commander', he is an Officer who prefers to be on the ground with his troops. This is his primary gripe with Commander Markov, who is a bureaucrat type who had never seen a decent amount of real combat. He dons every piece of his armor except his helmet, and heads towards the Armory to pick up his weapons. Meanwhile in the Technology Plant Faro, a scientist is brimming with Pride, exclaiming the brilliance of his latest inventions. This scientist is Dr. Randolph Werner, and he is fawning over two new pieces of weaponry. The first he holds in his hand. It is an improved version of the Terran Republic's standard issue Sweeper Shotgun, which Dr. Werner has named the JackHammer. It is larger, and has 3 Barrels as opposed to the Sweeper, which only has one. It also has the ability to fire all three Barrels at once, at a reduced rate of speed, but with a devestating effect. The second item is a new Tank, named the Vanguard. The Vanguard has a much lower profile than the Terran Prowler, and only one Cannon, as opposed to the 2 Cannons on the Prowler. Dr. Werner rushes some Terran Soldiers into the Virtual Reality Training Center to test this new equipment. The majority of the Terran Soldiers are not impressed with the new items, and a particular Soldier expresses a serious disliking of the new shotgun. It is determined through extensive testing, that the new equipment holds no advantage over current Terran weaponry, and that it will not be utilized. Lt. Commander Greenwood leaves the Armory, while checking the bullet container he picked up with his ChainGun. He meets up with the platoon he is commanding, and the primary Squad Leader, Marisa Konried fills him in on the mission. Apparently some weird artifacts were found in Western Cyssor that warrant extraction, and safe return to a Republic Bio Laboratory for examination. Lt. Commander Greenwood's platoon is a composed of 30 soldiers of varying skills and trades. They board a Galaxy transport ship and head out. Their destination is somewhere in the Western forest of Cyssor. The Platoon drops from the Galaxy while mid-flight, and moves through the heavy brush and forest to get to a cave in the middle of the forest area. Once into the cave, the platoon fights through a daunting series of traps and difficult passes before they get to their prize: 5 glowing silver blocks, inscribed with weird, unintelligible markings. Decidely Alien in nature, the group decides to take these items back to the Terran Bio Lab, and see if the scientists there can decipher their markings. At the Bio Lab, the scientists have failed to decipher the alien markings on the stones. Well, all except one ambitious scientist, Dr. Marcus Marriot, who feigns stupidity. Dr. Marriot 'borrowed' the Alien Stones earlier in the day, and found a way to read and understand them. Dr. Marriot is also considered by many of his Terran Scientific peers to be, in layman's terms, 'loony'. He claims to be an expert in Alien studies, and has spent his entire life chasing them. He feigns ignorance, under the assumption that if he spoke up, they would scoff at him anyhow. However, he knows he is nearing the end of his lifelong quest: to find a coherent Alien Species. He decides to be patient enough to wait for the right time to use his newfound knowledge. It is determined by General Markov and the other Leaders of the M.E.F. that the stones should be taken back to Earth for more study, and for the Terran Command to decide what to make of them. In the meanwhile, they are placed in a secure holding area, isolated from all but the most private institutions in the M.E.F. A transport ship is arranged, along with a full platoon in order to escort the Alien Stones through the WormHole and back to Earth. The TRBS Emerald accompanies this ship, carrying both Commander Markov and Lt. Commander Greenwood. The transport ship goes on its way, preparing for travel through the Wormhole. However something terrible happens. The transport ship, and the TRBS Emerald reach their destination, where the Wormhole is supposed to be. They discover, to their shock and horror, that the WormHole is NOT THERE. A very visibly nervous Commander Markov commands all ships to return and land on Cyssor. Commander Markov demands that every available scientist be put on the task of discovering what happened to the WormHole, and how to get it back. He also demands that any news of the Wormhole disappearing be squashed in an abrupt manner, by any means neccessary. Lt. Commander Greenwood disagrees with this order, and believes the troops should be told of this, and reassured that the Terran Scientists WILL find an solution to this problem, and that they should be patient, and have faith in the Republic. Commander Markov and Lt. Commander Greenwood have a very public dispute over this manner, with Greenwood being 'put in his place'. While nearly every other scientist in Bio Laboratory Chuku is busy working frantically, around the clock, searching for a solution to the missing wormhole problem, the 'loony' Dr. Marriot is quietly recruiting other scientists to his cause. These rogue scientists concoct a plan to steal the Alien Stones, and flee to the Western portion of Cyssor where they were originally found. |
