So I'm going to get a new laptop, the specs are:
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-3210M Dual Core (2.5GHz, Intel Ivy Bridge A Architecture, 3MB Cache, Intel Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz) Ram: 8GB (DDR3) Hard Disk Drive: 500GB Graphics: Dedicated (NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 635M with 2GB DDR Dedicated Memory) (and its Asus) So I was wondering if this would be enough to run PS2 on low/medium graphics??? -Sushi |

I'm running PS 2 on similar specs and on low i have around 60 fps, the big problem is the motherboard, not fine for gaming.
And you need to set PlanetSide to high priority in order to get it stable.

Well ok thanks for the help guess the laptop will be ok I dont really mind playing on low graphics and guess i will have to set PS2 to higher proirity but I heard people saying that removing shadows somehow has quite an impact on the quality (so ill check that out too when i get it).

Asus has a FOURTH-generation Intel Haswell processor laptop for around 14cbucks.
Check on Newegg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834231089 1400 bucks. What is your price range? The new Clevos don't have the 780m graphics yet that I know of.

You should be fine Sushi. Don't worry about the new Haswell chips as you won't see a serious boost in performance just yet. The only advantage in getting a laptop with a new Intel chip is that they are more power efficient.
What you have specified is similar to my desktop in terms of performance. PS2 is very CPU heavy so make sure you read up on an optimization guide. Putting some settings at High or ultra will take some stress of the CPU and put it onto your GPU. I'd say you could squeeze a respectable frame rate and good eye candy out of that machine. |
