go with the Asus NF2 board the NF2 is the king of Regular athlons, and an X800XT has a suggested retail of $500 and will stay that way for about a year, and you may want to get memory wit a cas latency of 2 or 2.5.

Well you get beter performance out of the NF2 and, it comes will some better features, like the quite decent integrated audio. also Asus is IMO the best mobo manufacturer in terms of quality and options for the price.

For ram if you can't get CAS 2 or 2.5 ddr400 (pc3200) then get that Cas 3 because thats' more important with your CPU

I don't know, why would you want to spend $250 on a XP 3000 chip/mb when you could pick up a better AMD 64 combo for about the same.

If you really want an XP, defintely go with either an A7N8X or NF7 nf2 board. A mobile xp 2600 would net you the most performance if you know anything about OC'ing.

If your total to work with is $700, find a hot deal somewhere on a 9800 Pro/128 if you can.

The corsair value select is solid stuff. Much better than that kingston for same price.

If you like these: Ive heard people like the second one!

These are more decorated:

These are utilitarian i guess but still look pretty nice:

Random cases:

http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/fro...nu_search.html

I own the blue Xsuperalien. It needs a few resigns inside for the motherboard tray and isnt as usefull as it looks but looks nice. Though nicer in the pic: Would probly help if i could stick it somewhere and not on the floor. The one i have is huge too:

http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/fro...nu_search.html

80 gig HD for $100??? Ack man, come on. Its not even SATA. I paid $139 out the door for a 250 gig maxtor/8meg/ide at Compusa last month. And I've seen tons of better deals since. This last weekend say 120 gig WD/8meg/ide for $30 after $60 mail in rebate. Before that CC had same drive's for about same price. Also seen 250's for under $100 quite a few times. HD's are one thing you can actually get some damn good deals on at retail stores, so check around before you get from newegg. I don't think they've ever really been considered that good on HD prices.

Now if 80 is plenty for you, thats cool. But with games starting to come on 10 disk or 2 and 3 dvd's, etc, game space is getting sick. This doesn't leave much room for the pr0n and mp3z.

As for case, I'll never buy another case that doesn't have a removable MB tray again. All case makers should add this feature. So useful.

Ok heres a suggestion!

http://bestbargainpc.com/wedi1272sawd.html 4 of this with no optionals. Buy some cords serparatly wether from WD or whoever. Have to ask for who has the good ones.

And this:

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...uctCode=132206

Id ask for daleon to confirm the reliability of the card though. I just got the cheap one and didnt read much on it.

Mind you, you can get the card and one or two HDs now and add more as they will probly get alot cheaper soon.

And i mean it, wait for someone to look at it. I didnt even look for hte card interface!

And this is just a general suggestion.

Thats pretty nice price for 120 wd sata's. 4 of them in a raid 0 would an external raid controller would be pretty slick, but overkill prolly. The rocketraids are defintely good cards though. I'm getting a 4 port ide one to run raid-5 for one of my work servers.
