The below is all written by banned forum member "Dharkbayne".


First off, Yes, Netarun is Dhark.
You shouldn't base your actions on that, though,
because you didn't know that at the time of the ban, or any time until now.

All I did was hold a small experiment, to see if the moderation of PSU *was* really
killing the forums, and yes, it is.

None of these problems would have happened if

A. You had a FAQ intricatly describing *ALL OF THE RULES*, not just some and having "unwritten" rules that you're
supposed to "pick up on", since newbies obviously would not pick up on these right away. This also removes room to argue, because you can just say "Read the fucking FAQ you retard. You broke a rule, you should've read it.

B. Had sent a warning to Netarun via PM, because he would have no idea what rules he had broken.

C. Actually utilized the 3 strike rule. You shouldn't just randomly use a rule, because that makes moderation confusing.
You should list reasons that cause the 3 strike rule to go into effect, and what means a permaban,
instead of seemingly doing it random, or just always use the 3 strike rule.

D. Have a list of bans, and the reason like they were banned, who banned them, a link to the posts that caused the ban, and when. SomethingAwful has a good example of this, which you can see here: http://forums.somethingawful.com/banlist.php , because if people don't know WHY they were banned, how do they know what rules they are breaking?

E. Not practice elitist moderation. This means that trolls like Squeeky should be outright banned for shit like that. The thread that netarun posted had a good cause, was not spam, and wasn't breaking any rules at the time of the posting.

F. Stop fucking IP banning me. It's not gonna stop me, I can change my IP, or if I'm lazy, I can use a proxy. All it does is waste my time.

G. Stop with all the "Worship me or you're banned" stuff. Even jokingly, it scares newbies. All it does is promote a sense of fear. People should not have to fear the admin unless they're breaking rules. This doesn't mean insults toward the staff shouldn't be bannable.
There's a difference between arguing with someone's decision and just being a dick.

H. Ban AOL speak, and shitty grammar. It'd create a much cleaner and easier to read forum.

I. Ban 1 smiley/1 word replies. They don't add anything to the conversation, and they're just spam.

J. Actually ban spammers and idiots. You don't. You ban the wrong people half the time.

I. Ban the [tags], they're stupid looking.

If you did those, said forums would be much cleaner and nicer places to be in. But I know you won't because you could never agree with anything "that troll x 500" says, because you have a superiority complex and are the most stubborn person I have ever seen.

Hamma, you may have banned Dhark but you have to realize he is right about a few things. A few. Because he's banned doesn't mean you shouldn't take his suggestions - i think it's most important to listen to people who have been banned.

I understand it's your forum and if we don't like it we can beat it but that isn't a final excuse. We should ease up a bit. And I mean everyone, including me.
