How about adding 1-2 automatic/manned Sam-Site Phalanx Turrets to each small outpost? It could be added as a benifit for owning an Amp Station. So without one, the shields on the turrets are down and the turrets would not work at all, or would require a gunner.
The shield would be directional, so air with some level of co-ordination could take it down. It's range would be about 50-150m, and it would have clips with 4 missles. It would require the user to keep LoS and one clip should deal about 1/4th of an ESFs health. It's reload would be 1.5 secs short and 2 secs long. So what do you guys think? Dmg seems kind of weak for something automated to the point where a solo ESF could likely take it down. Unless you meant by shields that they are invulnerable which I also wouldn't like.
I do however love the idea of automated turrets, always have. back when we had the hex system I suggested something along the lines of a tier system of benefits depending on how long you've owned a base. Maybe after like an hour or so of ownership the turrets become automated or some such. |

Good luck getting any pilots to agree to that.
Doesn't actually solve the problem of Aircraft farming infantry though. But you know what does? A few Burster maxes and the odd skyguard. Its just no-one ever wants to grab AA because its not as fun as caming a spawn with HE and there are opponents you have to *gasp* run away from. |

But I can understand why people don't use other anti-air mesures. Cert price. Anti-air are very overpriced, 1000 certs for nearly all anti-air guns. Most of the FP2's don't have enought certs to buy basic stuff, why bother buying situational weapons? |

While I think automatic turrets would be a neat idea I think it shares the same argument as with doors. Meaning the turrets and players/NPCs themselves would have lag issues for whatever reason.
