Stuck at 60hz Refresh Rate

I recently bought a MSI 9800 Pro 128mb (R360 Core - recognised as a 9800XT with no flashing

), but my monitor seems to be stuck at 60hz since putting it in. Just wondering if theres any reason i can't change it when my Geforce4 MX was running it at 85hz no problems. I've checked and unchecked "Hide refresh rates that this monitor does not support" and it doesnt help the situation.

Anyone know why?

Make sure you are using the newest driver, and not the one that came with it to start with.

I'm using Cat 4.7's from ati.com

I never use ATI's Drivers, I use Omegas, but did you try using a driver cleaner when you switch cards?

If thats a no go, Go into the monitor properties in the ATI control panel, and check out the refresh rate override, it maybe set on 60, or same as desktop, in which case you'll want disabled.

Your monitor may also not be detecting properly, in which case you may want to head into your device manager and check that out.

Wait, LCD or CRT?

Hmm, well i didnt use a driver cleaner, but i went into Add/Remove programs and uninstalled the NVIDIA drivers there and its CRT of course, im not stupid enough to try get over 60hz on an LCD :P . Plus i said i had 85hz on my Geforce4 MX before

Overide Monitor Refresh rate is (and already was) disabled. I tried setting the maximum resolution and refresh rate manually, but no matter what settings i put i just get black screen and have to use "last known good settings" on startup.

Ive never run accross this personally, so I googled thie crap out of it, After going through teh things I would do.

Solutions Ive run across:

Try older drivers.
Check plug and play settings in Bios.
Try to find new monitor drivers.

Older monitors may conflict with newer video cards, but I doubt thats the case.

Sorry I couldnt be of much help, maybe someone else has some ideas.
