Commonly known as MEO has been on the table for quite some time and has suddenly popped back up in my mind recently. So I checked up on it and it seems to have done alot of progress in the last year or so.
http://lotro.turbine.com/ I don't know about you, but it might just wind up to be a hit... I'm a big fan of the tolkien universe so hopefully...

Nice. I was reticent to try another turbine game what with the fiasco DDO was, but now I'm a bit less tempted to stay away from it like it was plague... of course my computer will eventually have to be upgraded in order to run it in a good way, but it's not out till spring I'm guessing so there's no real rush. I have high hopes for the game... No real visible magic and they differ from the standard hit points/mana system... Looks cool.

WoW is hardly grinding compared to other prominent MMO's I have played, I play casually in any game and I have seen some massive grinding required for other games at the casual level. If your play-style makes WoW a grinding game, it is going to be hard to find any MMO that isn't.

Lineage II is a grind...Anarchy Online is a grind...WoW levels you pretty damn fast. You can get 60/70 in less than a month. AO you would be lucky to get 100 (out of 220)...L2...forget it, the entire game is designed to be a grind even at the code level.

Ya but then you ahve to grind gold and rep to do anything else. hehe
Grind Gold, Grind Reputation, Grind Honor etc etc etc That is if you want to have all the good stuff, if you are playing casual you don't have to grind everything. If you want to be at the top of your game? Have fun grinding. If you dont want to do that you are gonna get killed by 8 year olds who grind 24/7 that's hardly fun to me. Having to many people in WoW is almost as bad as having to few in an mmo.
