Essamire Flight Ceiling?

I didin't see this in the patch notes so I'm wondering if this is a bug or working as intended or what? Essamire flight ceiling is 900m now instead of 1000?

Not sure if this patch included it, but I believe altitude meters are being changed to show your distance to the ground instead of your distance to sea level.

That would be a welcomed change.

Doesn't really seem like a good idea to me, unless every single continent they add is the same altitude, and that would just be shitty.

I'm betting the flight ceiling isn't going to go up at all, it will stay at 1000 meters above sea level.

If they change the measurement given now, to distance from the ground, on Esamir it might say 900 meters when you hit the flight ceiling. But on southern Indar, or the volcanic Searhus, I imagine the ground is farther from sea level, but we'll have no idea how far. So then it might read 700-800 when we hit flight ceiling.

I just don't like having different altitude caps for different continents because they changed the measurements. I like knowing to always stay away from 1000

Agreed - I'd rather know exactly where the ceiling is and guess how far it is from the ground than know exactly how far from the ground I am and guess where the ceiling is.

I noticed it's on Indar to, found it when I was flying over Scarred Mesa and it drops me as if 750m was the ceiling.

Did they ninja in the Sea Level to Actual surface thing, I'm not sure what it's called, AGL? That's coming out with the rest of the ESF update in GU14/15?

Re: Essamire Flight Ceiling?

If they can only have one or the other I would prefer the sea level as a standard, but why can't they have both?

Top display number for distance to sea level
Bottom display number for distance to ground below you

900\1000 Sea Level
200 Ground Level

So say you are at 900m above sea level and you are flying over scarred mesa and you have the bottom number showing like 200m above ground level. Just think it would be nice to know exactly how far ground level is both offensively and defensively since if you know you are close to the ground you know lock-ons will lock on faster (with the new update coming out)

Yes, Hamma, please check this out and include this in the patch notes. Its definitely a ninja patch.

GU 13 Ninja Patch Change in Rendering for Air: Also tied in with this change in the altimeter, it seems the maximum rendering distance of air has been reduced to 250-350 meters (as opposed to the 650-850 meters it used to be) For me, this is a bit unusual because 3 reasons.
1) Less Time to React: It can take a new ESF pilot (at average wind velocity of 55 m/s or 200 kph) 1-2 seconds to cross a 100 meters on the map. Because of this minimum expected incoming speed, the new rendering changes means you know have only average of 1.5 seconds instead 4 seconds to react an incoming ESF before they are on you, which is a big deal considering periods of server side latency. Then again in a serious dog fight this change in reaction time might not be a bad thing.
2) Frequent inability to use Long Range Scopes or spot with long range scopes: A few people have noted a failure things to render even when zoomed in with liberators longest range scope.
3) Occasional Loss of Priority Rendering: Due to the new range of rendering, players noted that vehicles, infantry, and turrets, and trees themselves may render at the same time when you dive below 300 meters. Please not this does not happen all the time because occasionally happens.

I am going to post this on FNO for Malorn to hopefully address whether or not these two changes are bugs or updates to ESF the forgot to mention in the GU13 patch.
