Servers with FF:Off

Found a an interview that I did not see here.

In it Higby said they are discussing servers with FF off.

After picking myself up off the floor, I wanted to find out what you guys think about this possible travesty.

The comment is at 0:50 seconds into the second part.

It also sounds like Platoons are out. 4:50 2nd part as well.

I am not a big fan of the fact that they're considering removing FF on certain servers. FF will prevent spamming your guns in crowded areas full of friendlies. I can also imagine that breaking through a defense can be very difficult if the defenders do not need to worry at all about damaging their team mates.

However, I do understand that removing FF does not necessarily mean that the grief system is removed as well. I guess a system can work where FF is turned off, but you still get some kind of grief points or punishment from hitting your team members.

There are just some occasions where I am so happy that FF is in the game, such as when someone is blocking the doorway or something else that is annoying.

So in the end I wish they do keep FF in-game. Just make it that infantry cannot damage your tank when you run them over... -_-"

Friendly Fire is intregal to balancing the game. If they have this option, it won't hurt me at all as i'll avoid it, but it does mean that the game is not necessarilly balanced around controlled fire.

Oh wow. Another feature that doesn't belong. In an MMOFPS such as this, FF needs to be on and remain on...

For those that adopt the "it will not effect me" point of view, think about the future.

When the inevitable happens and servers start to merge....which server type could you be forced into?

FF is a deterant to spamming explosives, it needs to be in.

Also.. please... allow all weapons that do splash and AoE damage.. to do splash and AoE damage to everyone. *Glares at the Lasher* Nothing annoyed me more than that rather unbalanced feature of that particular gun.

FF needs to be in the game for the most basic balance.

Further down the line, if they have players to spare and PS2 is a major success, they could have a few gimmicky servers, including a non-FF server.

However, I predict it to be unplayable.

I don't see a problem with a seperate FF off server. You could always play on a FF on server if you want.

Dividing playerbase is never a good idea.

A resounding hell no from me. Friendly fire is part of the fun and frustration of a game like this. I'm sure many of you have fond memories of hunting down/being hunted down by someone because you "stole his kill" or "you stole my kill"

And Higgles hasn't even broke 2000 yet.

Beta will NEVER start!
