Why aren't Squads supported as a collection?

Outfits are supported, but it would be great to also have squads as a data point for player statistics. Why are they not supported, and is it possible to have them implemented in the API?

squads? how and what information would you be looking for in that instance?

Squads are really only related to each faction and there not a focal point on many outfits agendas...
What information would you be looking for?

If we use comparisons, I guess squads can be seen as the pick-up-groups of MMOs, while outfits are the guilds. Squads can sit within outfits, but some players also form squads with friends without joining outfits.

So I'm interested in finding these (sometimes temporary) teams in the data, but currently it doesn't look like that's possible.

because squads change very fast, and the API is not currently that fast. And, for game performance's sake, don't make it too fast, SOE ;]

Squads as said above are established and closed out quickly and it is just un-needed data to store in the api and have us access them ...

They're re-working the api right now to cull data directly from the game server, instead of copying&caching it on a secondary database. This isn't possible now, but might be in the future.

When would you start collecting the data from the squad? When does it end? Through the life of the squad the players/leaders in it change allot so it doesn't even really make sense to want this data.

I would like to have a list of opened squads, their text and maybe leaders and members, but that's not required.

For outfits it could be useful for tracking stats and battle flow.

I'm currently designing an web app, that allows anyone who wish to track his route and actions on the map.

Not in detail, but we mostly create a battle report when we played 5 hours in row like, we started at the warpgate and did a gal drop on crossroads and met on heavy resistance, after 15 minutes of fighting, we secured the facility and splitted alpha and bravo....

At this point i would like to create a personal battle report, depending where the soldier's squad was and did.
