I'm looking for a good true 7.1 surround sound headset and sound card setup,my budget for a headset is 200$ max and 100$ for a sound card to compliment it.Ive been looking at the razer tiamat and the megalodon but from looking at the reviews it seems that the mic quality for the megalodon is terrible and the bass for the tiamat if awful and it has a constant loud whine to it which I saw for myself in a video.Every other headset I looked at seems to be shit in one way or another or doesn't use jacks that can be connected to a sound card and I'm not sure if the issues with the razer headsets can be fixed by using a proper sound card.
Does anybody have any suggestions for me as to what to get or know if using a sound card will fix the issues that people seem to be having with the razer headsets? I'm currently using a turtle beach X12 with no dedicated sound card and the best sound card I could find for my budget is this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829132006. I want a true 7.1 wired headset that has all the jacks that I can connect to a sound card and has good bass Any recommendations would be helpful. |

If you're referring to a USB headset then there's no point in also getting a dedicated soundcard.
I would just go with the suggestions in this thread, personally. http://www.planetside-universe.com/s...ad.php?t=52896

I use a USB Razer Megalodon and its great. Mic is clear and the sound is great for locating those peskie infils. I have removed my sound card and using onboard sound... I dont feel there is any loss there, in gaming, at least.

Best $90 I've ever spent on a purchase meant specifically for gaming. However, the only real way you can take advantage of a sound card like that is if you have an optical-in headphone. If you're looking for a USB or normal 3.5 mm jack, well... what's wrong with on-board sound?
