I am looking to be a waiter for a little while. The general rule in the industry seems to be that men have to have short hair. I love having long hair and love it. I basically have a job at outback steak house but I would just need to cut my hair to get it. I could try to look for a restaurant that didn't require short hair but I have a feeling that could be hard, or I could look for work in different places.
Cool job or cool appearance. Help me decide. |

Get a damn hair cut. Long hair is for hippies and girls.

Sounds like we have plenty of republicans in this thread (jesting, even if you are republican I don't think of you as one )
Wear it different while you work, out of the face. Wear it back, etc. If that won't cut it, just cut it well and make it look good, don't cut it and regret it like fuck like I am right now. |

buzz cuts with beard looks sexy...but thats just me.
My friend had to get his hair cut which was past his shoulders because he got bad grades. Yes don't ground him and give him a tutor, cut his hair and A's will fall down from the sky!

I like my long hair, but there is a point where getting it cut for the sake of a job is worth it. I cut mine for the job I currently have, then just let it grow back out. They can't fire you for having longish hair, but they can decide that it doesn't give them the right first impressions about you.
Cut it, and once you've got some job security, let it grow back out again. In fact, I'd say just cut it short enough to be borderline (shaggy) and you're fine. I've been working more of the shaggy look recently and I like it. Not hippy long, or preppie short, but kinda in-between that looks alright IMO. Last edited by Electrofreak; 2006-12-05 at 06:31 AM. |
