My PC seems to think your sig pic comes from a source that serves adverts or popups, so it replaces the image with [AD].

Hmm, maybe tweak your filter or something. It's hosted on ISP "free" webspace at members.shaw.ca so I doubt there is much advertising coming from there.

I don't think the patcher is smart enough to consolidate everything into one mondo patch. You know how for BF or Half-life you can always get the incremental patch or the full patch? With PS it just has dozens of incremental patches that it has to get in order. Life sux.

This is annoying me. It's run through the same files over and over. wtf is it doing!? It updates files to exactly the size they are!

yeay. Yet again the updater crashed. "this program has generated too many errors and will be closed by windows"

And yet again it rolls back to the start.

Right. Now I'm annoyed. 3dsounds.wav is now downloading for the 7th time. Each time it downloads a file thats exactly the same size and it's predecesor.

I really don't know, everytime i cancelled my original dl on accident, which i did several times, it picked up where it left off. Thats just... odd doesn't really describe it but it's as good a word as any i guess.

The updater must be corrupt.

Possibly, that would probably negate full scan, but it's worth a try if you haven't already done so. I remember reading something about fixing the launch pad way back when but i can't remember any of it. You could always try deleting and redownloading it if you want, that would probably fix it, if you think it's worth it give it a shot i guess.

It seems fine now.
There was a pretty big Aurora Borealis display last night (I'm in Scotland) due to the sunspot activity. Perhaps it was pissing about with my PC or connection.

er, nope. Scratch that theory. The main download bar now shows complete, but the time indicator says an hour to go and different files are still downloading. My Speedtouch diagnostic says there is no change in download speed.

Cool. This has been great fun spending 14 hours to download files.[/sarcasm]

[edit]
lol, it finalry downloads, and it says all servers are down. GREAT.

[edit]
WTF. Its wants to download again? This peice of shit is taking the piss. No wonder there arent that many players.

Well, it doesn't really download a load of small patches. What it does is scan the files on your system, then check with how they compare with those on the update server. If they don't match, new ones are downloaded.

Because of this, you don't have to redownload whatever.cfg for example, if it were changed in several different patches. You would just download the latest one.

Anyways.. the one on their server is probably the same one on Fileplanet.. which I think is the same as the one you get in a box from the store. The patches may take a while for some, not for others. It took me hours on my 600k connection this last time, but before that it only took one hour.. so I think it depends entirely on when you patch.
