If Malorn's conjecture is correct, and the heavy assault class can overcharge their shield, then perhaps the shield could become even brighter while overcharged, but even this should only be one-third to one-half as bright as the current glow effect is.

On the topic of shield glow while taking damage, I think it would be cool if the shield brightness was controlled by how much DPS was being unloaded on you. So if your just getting tickled by an SMG at long range it would barely be noticeable. But if you get nailed point blank in the chest by a vanguard the flash should be so pronounced that people 50m away would be like "WTF..did you just see THAT guy!! He just got lit up like a flashbang!" It might also be usable as a quick and dirty "how much dps is that person putting on me" gauge.

Implementing a hacker's gameplay in regular gameplay might be a bad idea and stop people from wanting to play as an infiltrator. FYI, darklight was balanced with shorter vision range. Giving a long range equivalent is a bit unfair to infltrators, imo. @Skitrel: instead of discrediting people by shouting troll, what about taking a bit of your time and explaining us WHY you think certain things ? It would be a lot more constructive. I disagree with Malorn and Sirisian on some ideas but at least, they take time to explain us what they think and I respect them for that. I suppose my complaints are the same as everyone else's but...
The backstab is really disheartining. It really saddens me to see that in PS1, I really hope it's removed, or revised in a way where it's nearly useless. I've never found getting backstabbed in games to be very compelling or fun. You're just going about your business shooting, some guy happens to slip behind you and you're done. Now if they implemented some very loud cloaking noise, only allow them to backstab when they're uncloaked and have it make a very loud noise to alert players as others have suggested in this thread. Spotting? Don't really enjoy it. I don't like little triangles all over my screen telling me where the enemy is. Kind of lame and takes the fun out of it. As long as it's limited to a squad basis, can only spot one person at a time and have to spec pretty heavily in order to get it, I would be fine. But if any noob right off the bat can spot people and you appear to the entire empire it would be incredibly lame. As for the supposed Heavy Assault's ability to absorb damage, it sounds like it could be a pretty nifty mechanic, considering they're more like Tanks this time around. Although, that makes me wonder what the MAXes function is? Seems like that ability would be more suited for a MAX...Or maybe it's some sort of interchangeable shield upgrade you can put on your characters. |

Personally I hope they keep the backstabbing in. They need to watch to make sure it's not OP but I would really enjoy the thrill of backstabbing.

Did anyone else hear Beta in a few months?
Also I dont mind to much about backstabbing / if people get that close to you aka a cloaker then fine but if someone say a light assault started jumping around stabbing people then that will be a problem |

The main reason I am against instant kills with knives is because I think it makes using the knives too trivial. You could still make knife kills in PS1 even without OSOK backstab and it required quite a lot of skill to do. In the midst of a large battle, I got low on health and retreated for cover. I pulled my med app and... got knifed by an infil. Everyone around was too busy to catch the guy. Said more simply: I got owned. >.< If anything, I would ask for knife kills to not show up in the public kill list and/or to make almost no noise. I find instant kill backstabs hardly to be exciting... In PS1, even boomers gave players a chance to survive should they react asap to the threat (i.e. at once when they hear the beep). I'm trying to remember the name of that NC cloaker who always seemed to manage to get inside VS spawns and boomer people... He had a funny character name that involved pop... or something like that. |

Really good Infiltrator footage in this video. I think all of that looks solid; you can notice the Infiltrator, but you quickly lose sight of them. I think that a one-knife-kill out of stealth, or from behind, is perfectly reasonable.
