"We'll be starting to let players into the beta in the next couple months" Also some looks at the TR sniper rifle being fired, and the chainblade, and also a glimpse of the striker? Alot of stuff we've already seen, though. EDIT - and a shot of a cloaky running around at 4:40 Last edited by polywomple; 2012-03-20 at 04:30 PM. |

2:57 he's shooting at a TR Rexo who is glowing red. He shoots the rexo many, many times, and in the killcam we see he had full health and was still glowing red. So it looks like some sort of shield overload ability which allows him to take a lot more damage than normal.
Is this a glimpse at a Rexo class ability to absorb damage? |

I'm not sure about this. In a Halo game perhaps but not in planetside when the infiltrator class can be nearly invisible. At some point you need to be given an opportunity to defend yourself against the invisible attacker.
Perhaps if the infil was forced to decloak and the decloaking effect had a very audible sound. Or like in PS1 where the knife had different modes and the powerful mode made a sound (like the chainblade rev'ing or the force blade humming). If they stick to that PS1 mechanic it might be OK since the player has a warning that a knife attack is coming. If not it could lead to some lame gameplay. |

It's exponentially harder to get that close to them and get behind them in a world with so many players than it is to catch someone turned around at 100m and fire a shot. |

Yeah... don't really agree with you. If cloaking is anything similar in PS2 as it was in PS1, it's not too hard to sneak up on someone's back.
I would prefer that it does not matter where you knife someone and it does the same damage everywhere, but I guess I would be ok if the back gave a slight damage bonus. |

well shooting someone in the back i could do from a mile away, stabbing him on the other hand would require me to be right behind him.
and you shouldnt go to war alone, since backstabbing a soldier next to his squadmates will result in certain death for the infiltrator. and the cloakers ive seen dont look that invisible to me, looks like the cloakers from tribes and i can see those easy. |

And I can counter it with constructive criticism: - it is not too hard to hide in a corner - there is stealth in PS - it was possible to stab people in PS1 and kill them (and to make it easier, you had to sacrifice an implant slot) If you get behind someone and manage to stab once, can't you not stab a second time ? It's like snipers whining about not having OSOK. Finishing off a player at <75% health is perfectly doable in PS1. You'd be amazed how many times you may get behind someone in a base fight. It's not rare at all. I am not interested in seeing OSOK quick-knives when sniping does not have OSOK and it's hard to line up a good long range shot with bullet drop, etc... |
