This happend once on Emerald server.When the BFR's first came ,inorder to get your cert you had to go to the caves and get points from controlling bases.Eveybody was down there.Nobody was getting anywhere,so NC,tr,and vs made a truce to get the BFR's it lasted just long enough for me to get my BFR the good old days

The factions don't have a central authority to formalize alliances.
If someone declared themselves to represent NC in such negotiations and came out with a statement that we will not attack vanu for a while, zealot blood will continue to flow until I hear otherwise from my Outfit Leader. It's unnatural, outside of a special event, to allow the enemy to breathe. Every second they get to live is additional resources denied to my faction, my outfit and my character. |

This idea is two ideas, so I'll reply in two sections:
Alliances What you are in essence asking for, two empires fighting one, already exists, these alliances are just very short lived, and like in regular war when switching sides are involved, are not observed by all units in the army. That is to say, the outfits will be in one place pushing hard on it, and not be so focused in other places. If there were 5 factions, 1 temporary Non Aggression Pact, 1 temporary (expiring) alliance would be a great idea, the level of which is dictated by how much fighting each side does against the other, lowering or raising naturally as time progresses. In 3 faction pvp I don't see the need (or benefit) for any kind of fixed system, the fight moves where it moves, so there are sometimes cease fires but usually Big Fight vs A, skirmish vs B. Wiped off the Map This however gets my vote , just not in the manner suggested, and has some room for creativity, as its already in more or less. It'd be nice to have some kind of big announcement, a last stand kind of engagement, where the losing faction gets a nice boost to respawn/health (on their last base on any continent), but the winning faction's members gets a medal of some kind. If they wipe out both factions in the space of a month/fortnight (fortnight would hopefully make it very rare.) I remember in Warhammer they did a final battle in one location but it became very repetitive as it happened too often, the idea of a temporary winner is something to chat about, just needs to be implemented well.
