other companys are the same!
codemasters or cryptic are not better in any way. their mmos were pushed out buggy and unready too. star trek online still feels like a big construction site and it has been released about 2 years ago. we will really have to do a good job during beta to prevent a thing like that. but with the amount of communication we get from our devs, i am sure beta will be a blast and very productive in terms of bughunting. the only thing that must not happen is a fixed releasedate that cannot be pushed back if anything goes wrong. in beta i will have a lot of fun trying to do things the devs would never think of. to find gamebreaking glitches or exploits and report them.

This is the main thing that is bugging me. I want the core release to feel like a complete core and new content to feel like new content and not be completing the core. Or if it is released unfinished I want them to be honest about it and not show a facade of already releasing amazing new content when it's something I should have been using a month ago.

Ultima Online ShadowBane You might even be able to argue SWG in there, but it was a theme park with a PvP overlay. |

If I was going to really worry about something in Beta it would be a massive memory leak or a .exe issue which caused constant crashing. I expect there to be serious issues in Beta, and as a Beta tester I believe it is my duty to go out and play Stuntman and try and find, exploit and report everything I can.

According to some SWG players I've talked to, a non-RPG based SW game would never work! Because questing is everything... Screw massive space and ground combat in an interstellar war, we need to go kill 30 Lictardian Lemmings and harvest 20 ore for this nifty cloth upgrade that gives +5 ForcePowah. >.> |

I personally don't want the space to be zone-based like SWG's JTL. I want seamless transition like the 'I-Novae engine' |

When it comes time for expansion, I want them to expand the war, but off of Auraxis. Open warpgates up to other planets, with completely different environments and physical properties, that necessitate different weapons, vehicles, and tactics.
Possible locations: Airless moon - Low gravity, no air pressure, little cover. Combat forces would be far faster and more mobile, perhaps ending up almost at a Tribes level of mobility. Venus - Minimized view distance and violent weather, making air near worthless much of the time. Extreme hostile conditions prohibit lighter infantry variants from venturing outside. Jupiter - No 'land' in sight. Bases are floating fortresses. Lots of new Aircav, floating cruisers, jetpack troops. Lots of clouds to hide in and maybe some extreme weather phenomena to serve as 'terrain'. Water planet - Mostly naval and air combat, perhaps a few small islands. Lots of boats and aircraft, maybe even submarines. Underwater domes to fight in. Mercury planet - Has a fast day, leading to limited time spent above ground at night. During the 'day' only specialized vehicles capable of poking their nose up, and only for a limited time. Asteroid field - Spacecraft, troops with maneuvering packs. Space stations, hollow asteroids, etc. Doing this, they would be able to add more vehicle and weapon content without disrupting the balance of the base game, and make alternate combat dynamics available, increasing the draw of the game. It would end up as just being king of all FPSs. Like Tribes like combat? Got ya covered. Want a primarily air game? Room for you too. Want space combat? Theres a place for that. Tanks online? Get your fix right here. |
