I am hoping that squads, platoons and outfits will actually have their own voice (and text) channels. Getting more people into outfits will make these things get used, too.

If PS1 is a guide (as it should be) then this won't be a problem.

The bigger problem is once people are in outfits, squads, platoon is getting them to coordinate effectively.

There are ways to do that of course but I don't think autojoin will make it easier, rather the reverse, and there is no point to squads, platoon or outfits if the people don't work together.

I dunno exactly about an automated outfit placement. I think a new player outfit that all new players are in would be best for that. Give them some nice RP name like they are in the massive main army in that.


I could definitely see an option for outfits to automatically accept applicants if they wish, though. Many, many guilds/outfits/etc are extremely lax about entrance requirements and don't care at all.

Intruiging ideas for sure, but I think it can be done simpler without relying too much on autojoin widgets.

I think it could be good to take a few notes on what Armored Core V did with it's "Team" setup. After you had created a character you would be greeted with the choice to choose a team from a list or create your own.

The Team leaders could set how they recruit people, if they want to review applicants or just let them in without screening. They could also write a description of what activity their teams do and what sort of pilots they were looking for.

So let's say if PS2 added such screens after character creation, you could;

- first present the choice if you want to solo, join squad or join a outfit.


If you clicked squad

-A list of squads (with a short description if added by SL)

-Search function

- option to filter by continents and locked/unlocked

- can add a autojoin feature for open squads only


If you clicked join outfit.

- list outfits with categories that can be filtered (casual, hardcore, air calvary or tank platoon etc

- search function

- hide/show description/info by clicking (playtimes, member count, teamspeak/vent, ideology or ranks etc)

- show their recruiting policy/filter (screened, open, password or other)

- can add a autojoin feature for open outfits only (though I don't feel this is necessary)


I think this would make it easier for alot of people to find their place from the moment they touch down on Auraxis.
