Despite being inferior in most ways the ATV was still fun to drive. When they added the rocket pods and cloaker version it was a blast. Driving on invisable bikes in a rexo, trying to blow up a tank with two rocket pods. Like beamering BFRs it was just fun.

I am sure if the ATV doesn't die to one mine like it did in PS it will see much more use. I would prefer it not activating mines. This allows another way to get a strike force in and out quickly. Heavy CE you can low profile a squad in rather than being flying targets ringing the door bell.

PS2 like PS will have people leveling. They won't have to rely on an outfit to supply a galaxy to transport them later in the game. The gal drops that made your outfit popular will die out just like they did in PS. Restricting every other vehicle around this won't change it either.

You said it in your first post in this thread you hope people have to choose between weapons and being able to bail. If I'm not taking any weapons on my plane, it should cost less.

I should have seen this turning into the completely unrelated topic of bailing.

Simple solution to bailing.... You can't eject if your aircraft has been hit within the last X number of seconds.

As for the losing the last 10% or so of your armor. Just have the crash happen after you lose all your armor. It's just aesthetics anyways.

You didn't understand. Being able to bail =! grabbing a freebie aircraft. Why would anyone use a transport vehicle then?

HA, MAXes, or if there is a lot of AA a Gal can soak more damage or a Sunderer would be better.

lol, well that scenario was technically true for PS1 and look how that turned out

A lot of this depends on how much res aircraft cost to spawn, and what you're allowed to take with you in a skeet. Haphazardly jumping out of your aircraft onto a tower roof every time we died like in PS1 was goofy and shallow. IMO there should be a significant repercussion to bailing. It's the most mobile vehicle in the game, with very powerful weapons, and you just lost it. You should feel it.

I am just wondering if the shell of either the blown up Aircraft will fall for a bit then crash into the ground or onto people down below if so that could be quite bothersome (and awesome to see)

Early on it did exactly that, you got to a point where you could no longer control your vehicle and you would crash into the ground. People bitched about it because it would deprive them of kills (if they died from the crash it would just give the suicide icon and no kill), so instead of the devs changing it so the last person who got the shot got the kill they just made it so you maintained control untill you died.

I hope they make it as i said above, you lose control of the vehicle and crash to the ground like the old way but the last person who got a shot off on the vehicle gets the kill.

There should not be 1 man transport only aircraft, and the pilots of all attack aircraft should receive a crew kit with pistol and medpac only so that they are discouraged from using attack aircraft as personal chariots to their favorite sniping position.

Besides, isn't there a jet pack class? That will get you onto some rooftops.

I've already said if you have a problem with it having weapons you can give me a variation with none. As for cost, in PS1 everything was nanites, 1 ANT run and bam I can make 1000 more skeets. In PS2 it resources that you collect yourself, why should I not be allowed to spend them on a plane just to get somewhere? I never asked for a "dirt cheap" or "freebie aircraft", I'm fine paying regular price for a regular plane to go bail on a tower, all I said was a cheaper (as in costing less not free) version without guns.

As for quads, I used the Fury probably more than anyone, was great for killing tanks.

This isn't Battlefield. Me grabbing a plane to go drop on a roof doesn't mean you have to wait for it to die and respawn, you can go to the term and grab your own. To the jet pack, they can get on the roofs of some of the smaller buildings in a base, but towers look much taller this time around, and doesn't seem like they will make it up there.

I know it isn't and that you don't have to wait for it to respawn. But everyone keeps bombarding me with immersion this, immersion that, and so I'm going to use it myself this time: Being able to unrealistically grab a jet fighter and use it as a personal taxi, or indeed, to have this done to you by the enemy, is immersion killing.

Here's another thought: If a player dies more than 10m away from their vehicle, and their vehicle is full health, they get charged double resources for the vehicle. That way, people who use aircraft as personal chariots like this, they can still do it, but at a cost. It will not affect people who bail from aircraft that's been damaged.

Re: Crashing Aircraft

this will not be a problem because aircraft will prolly be relatively expensive. anyone that repeatedly bails will quickly use up their resources. also, it will be must easier to recover from ghost hacks.

the problem with aircraft bailing in ps1 was when organized outfits would abuse this and do it again and again. in ps2 they will drain their resources quickly if they try this.

I also want to be able to target individual subsystems of aircraft, but that would probably be too realistic for a game like planetside.
