Need help running DOS games
I know there's a way, I just can't figure it out, but I REALLY wanna run some old DOS based games such as ShadowWarrior, X-COM Series, Lords of the Realm II, King's Quest, and some other shit Problem is this computer won't run them and I don't have an old crappy machine that I could used to run them so does anyone have any suggestions? I tried two programs, both of which didn't work: VDMSound DOSbox Any help would greatly be appreciated, I really REALLY want to play X-COM: Apocalypse again but it just won't run on this machine |

F-15 Strike Eagle (came on one 3.5" floppy), X-Com (Terror from the Deep and the original), X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Rebel Assault (the first one)...ah yes, the good old days. Wow, I've wasted a lot of time on games...
You know, I'll bet any secondhand store would have a old box that you coulld run DOS on for real cheap, so you could experiment. |

I remember those games! When I was young (in the 80s) I remember playing King's Quest on my father's P.O.S. computer. It was so bad that the display was only in 4 colors. I remember the computers at my high school were all old Apples that you could never find decent games for.
The first computer I ever worked on was a TRS-80, it must have been in like 1979 or something, and then I moved on to Tandy-1000. I remember one of the computers in my school at that time had a 12-inch disk drive! Ah, the good old days.... Im done reminiscing, sorry. As to running DOS games, I would think there might be an emulator out there on the net somewhere that can help you out. I know there are emulators for Nintendo and such out there so there might be one for DOS games. Good luck! |

what version of windows do you have, that makes a big difference on how you rin them. 95-98: boot in dos, and run them from the cmd line Win-XP: there is an option in the settings to have you go to ultra low color and dos compatable settings (just look around for it, its in the properties manager, settings I think) if that didnt work, or you couldnt find them, just tell me, ill see waht I can do. ---------------------- I pitty the foo who never played dos games! I grew up on dos games and arcades!
