Question about Adv. Hacking...

If you hack an enemy vehicle can you drive it without the proper certification in it? I ask because what's the point of stealing an enemy tank that you'll never get the certification in?

EDIT: That gave me an interesting idea. If you could drive the vehicle and it kept it's original markings and radar signature this would be awesome for spying on the enemy. This would pose a problem though if since the vehicle would have to be a legitimate target. So if you could make the driver show up red and the vehicle show up green and not get grief for blowing the vehicle up under the enemy that would be really cool.

I am not in beta atm so i won't awnser you because i'm afraid of awnsering wrong .

But , i read that when you hack an enemy vehicle the signs and the logo changes . And i am almost pretty sure you don't need a cert to use it

That would be a very powerful tactic ... Think about it . With a spy or a fake vehicle looking at everything you do ... And indetectable . Hackers would rule da'world and that's not the intention of Sony

I understand that Sony didn't want hackers to have access to everything... but really if your character hacked a vehicle out on the field I'm pretty sure he wouldn't think to himself: "Oh darn I dont have the license for this thing."

Well how is a TR hacker going to drive a stolen Magrider then? Yeah I also know that the vehicle itself does switch sides but would be cool for infiltration purposes for it not to. It wouldn't be so overpowering after all with the right implants you can see the vehicle's driver and it would let you know it's an enemy. The only hitch is to have the system not give you grief for shooting a friendly vehicle to kill an enemy driver.

EDIT: If you can only drive what you have Certs in the then screw it just hack the vehicle terminal and get your own brand new vehicle what would be the point of getting Adv. Hacking then? Hmm idea again . What if the hackers were like the Black Lotus in Command and Conquer Generals where they could shut down vehicles and maybe... MAX's for a short time.

A TR soldier can pilot a magrider if he has the heavy tank cert. Empires have universal certs.

When you get a cert in a vehicle, you learn how to use it, you don't just get a license for it, otherwise, how many soliders do you think would actually respect them? I mean, if a solider doesn't have a license, for, lets say, a Lightning, and he was surronded by 5 MAXs, do you think he would say, "damn, i don't have a license for it"? No, he would probably say, "damn, I have no clue how to operate a Lightning". The biggest point of adv. hacking is the ability to hack faster, and to have stuff stay hacked for longer.

You don't usually hack vehicles in order to drive them. You hack vehicles to deprive your enemy of them. You steal and dismantle a tank so your enemy can't shoot you with it. You steal an AMS so that your enemy can't respawn, etc.

Actually, the main benefit to adv hacking is the added time it keeps terminals hacked over regular hacking.

Well, regardless of vehicle cert status, if you're in an armor that can hack then you can get in any gunner position.
So even if you can't drive it away, you can hack that vanguard and start pummeling those NC w/ their own gun. If someone with a prowler/magrider cert comes along then you can drive it too.

Good point Tieom. Still not worthy of the cert points in my opinion but, a good idea.

If you truly wish to be the "l33t h4x0rz" just make sure you don't get any assault or armor certs, simply invest all your points in hacking, adv hacking, infil suit(not a must but almost ) and the rest all goes into vehicles, heave tank, heavy buggy, galaxy, AMS and sunderer would be the best choices since those are the most often jacked, reaver would be good too but you don't often jack a reaver.
