Inventory problem?

Just wondering if this is a bug or a problem with the interface between the chair and the keyboard (that would be me).
Every time I get killed and respawn, I have to go and resupply my inventory.
When I respawn I end up with the Standard exosuit with some basic assault weapons. I then have to go to a 'supply' terminal and re-buy the Agile Exosuit and get my Medium assault weapons etc.. etc...
Is this the way the game is supposed to go?

In most games when you die you loose everything and have to requip or go find your corpse and get your stuff. You can go get the stuff off your backpack if you get there in time, but why bother when its faster to re-equip. Setup Favorites fast for various configs you like and its not a problem.
