Surprised nobody mentioned this yet but on Markov, the lag has become huge. My computer is top of the line so I know that is not the problem. When I checked on the login screen there were three yellow bulbs on Markov last night.
I'm not going to start complaining yet, because we are still in the free month but SOE really needs to do something about server wide lag. I was on Searhus I believe, when there were numerous zone wide LDs. The same happened in Cyssor the day before. Please Devs, can you mention whether or not you guys are investigating how to stop such huge problems? As a FPS lag is much more dangerous than with other games. I found the game unplayable last night, and unfortunately had to log off. There were some of the best, huge battles going on and I know many people didn't enjoy them because of the LD, lag issues. What is going on? |

Normally Markov has been really stable for me, but last night that all changed. Every time I tried to use a door, change weapons or use the terminals there was always a pause before the action happened. Sometimes for a at least 2 or 3 seconds. Little moments of lag that used to never occur started poping up and it could get a little frustrating in a fight.
I should have tried rebooting to see what would happen, but the action was just too much fun and I didn't want to leave. I quess I'll see how things go tonight. |

Konreid is fine, and SOE has demonstrated in beta that they have a large number of dormant servers lying in wait for more users.
So, I suppose they should boot another two of those up, as even the alternate US servers are starting to fill up.

Not sure if more servers are the answer... although the servers are starting to get a little more full emerald is always going to be rammed simply because it is at the top of the list.
If even a small percentage of users have a high ping then the server still has to multiplex its data to these users. I assume the connections were on probably get cycled a little to ensure we dont always get a rough deal but if you have 100 users and 10 connections to the server (will be MUCH lower connection per user ratio probably) and if one of those users is lagging then everyone getting data in sequence from that connection has to wait for the server to get a response from the slow user. I would like to say that was probably the most technical/authorative sounding post I have ever made anywhere and it is as I type being printed and will shortly be framed |

Crap does this mean i dont feel this "hard lag". I mean i always (and ever since) had at the least 1 sec lag just because my computer is too fucking slow, and i just lag by 2 or 3 minutes once i hit a spot with 50-100 peeps (if more than half are moving their asses).
All i have to say is live the lag, just like your friendly BUG does. (and yes, it sucks major leage dick)

Markov is getting as bad as Emerald on its peak hours. I hope that they are doing tests, because huge battles of at least one hundred people are almost the norm now.
In a FPS you can not play like this. I was stealthed and following an enemy waiting for him to slow down. Well, he kept disappearing cause of lag. I finally caught up to him, dumped a bunch of bullets in his back and I suddenly died. Was it because someone snuck up behind me? No, it was the guy I was shooting at. Apparently he had stopped, and I was following his ghost |
