Angry Corpse Scouts--stop them please


Hello,

I've done it myself, so I'm just as guilty. When someone "dies" in PS, they shouldn't get a free five minute scouting of the enemy to send via voice to their team mates. It simply isn't realistic from a gaming perspective, and people who are corpses should not be able to scout around them. I've seen this done on countless occasions. For example, someone will rush a cc and stay as a corpse. I'm sure they are giving details to friends via voice the entire time over TeamSpeak or the in game chat I suspect. I've even seen dead people chat, yet for some reason I cannot chat.

Is there a way to chat while dead? This needs to stop also to avoid people exploiting it.

When someone dies they should get a black screen other than their windows of information perhaps. I understand letting them sit there for a revive, but letting them get free intel on unit placements, specialties, and numbers is simply stupid. Was this an intended thing to allow people to do? Hasn't anyone commented on it before? I find it strange the issue has not been addressed yet.

Just remember a corpse can see everything around them as they circle 360 degrees for what seems like at least 5 minutes before they auto-spawn back at the sanctuary.

Any thoughts?

Hmm, I never conciously did that before but I can see how it could be abused. The only time I've stayed around is because I just felt like watching what is gong on. Such as when there are maxes camped out at the spawn tubes killing everyone coming out.

I agree though, something probably should be done about this.

I think you can only chat on squad/outfit channels when you're dead (and only before hitting the respawn button).

I agree, it is quite lame -- I think at the very least, you should be "muzzled" while dead, and probably should have both a black screen and be muzzled. It's pretty stupid that you get to see who just shot you dead, in the back...

The best solution I can think of would be to make the screen go black - perhaps keeping the mini map.

I wouldn't want to remove all points of reference, as it can be hard to describe to an advance medic where your copse is laying, and advanced medics need all the use they can get.

But, the scouting while dead is kind of lame. I do it from time to time, to be sure - as it's in the game currently, but I'd be happy to see only the map.

I dunno about the in-game chat, but if you are using a third party voice chat (Teamspeak, RodgerWilco, Ventrilo), there's no way to stop them from continuing to describe what they can see.

In the mean time, just be aware of it.

The only time I don't respawn right away is when the enemy has a spawn camped but doesn't have it locked down tight. I'll normally sit and watch what happens to see if we retake the spawn so that I can use it again, or if I have to head somewhere else. I have warned my squad about a spawn being camped after I'd been killed, though.
I'm seeing a trend of NC not spawning right away also, just to keep me away from their Jackhammers.

Hello,

I always ask people to not automatically respawn while I'm around because I play the part of an advanced medic very seriously. I even have colored macros to inform people when they are near me to come to me for repairs/heals and get a revive instead of respawning if they die. I've revived a ton of people, and I'm sure it has helped the assaults I've participated in over the long run. Reviving a Max is EXTREMELY valuable above and beyond reviving infantry. I would suggest all max's do not automatically respawn if they are at the edge of an offensive or within a building. Getting them back on their feet right when they die is well worth the effort!

I become used to always spawning right away because I never know where you medics are when I need you. Also, because I seem to never get the serious medical attention I need.

Making the screen turn red and fade out would be a good idea.

Edit: Solendon, you're not supposed to put your character stats right next to each other. You''re supposed to stack them.

Yesterday I killed a NC MAX with the decimator. He fell over backwards and layed there for awhile. Since it didn't appear that he was going to respawn anytime soon, I ran over and started jumping up and down on his corpse waving at him. He respawned right away after that. LOL

I've seen some sort of exploit with moving corpses. They need to fix that.

One corpse was bouncing around the battlefield until it found one of our AMS's. Soon as he found it, he layed there for about a minute and then BOOM! Orbital strike on the AMS. Obviously using the intel gathered from the corpse (marked on map, either WP, or number where corpse is).

Pretty friggen weak~

I think the corpses and moving vehicles are more annoying than anything else. I could see a problem with them being able to find AMS and such, but I think there are more pressing problems at the moment...like the hard locking that has resurfaced.

Sorry I never read in the Lounge. I'll change it or not use a sig, I just don't get why mine can't be side by side when there are other who have sig pics nearly 800x600.
