I'm temporarily using skyguard on my pilot char until liberator is out. I was in a mobile armor squad late tonight and we were rolling towards an nme base with 2 vans and 2 skyguards. My skyguard was in the back(im the driver). A reaver came up behind us and the gunner started firing, the reaver then fired 5-10 rockets at us and killed the skyguard in a matter of seconds. Maybe the gunner wasn't very good but that is kinda crappy. To have guard in its name I would suspect it would be good a guarding? I believe the armor needs to be upped a little.

In any battle its mostly decided on who wins the battle of being seen first. If you're gunner had seen the reaver first, that reaver would have been toast. Not saying that you'd escape undamaged, but an engineer could have fixed you up right.
The skyguard is also incredibly nimble, on par with the Harasser. Dodging and weaving to avoid the rocket salvo wouldn't hurt too much either.

Flooring it only enables the reaver pilot to point his nose up, plus there's the splash damage from the rockets to deal with. It'll be harder for the pilot to twist the nose to hit you.

In any road column, vehicle gunners should be scanning specific sectors and those sectors only. These sectors should be 90-degree arcs. For instance: the lead vehicle scans the forward arc; the second vehicle scans the left arc; the third vehicle scans the right arc; the vehicle in the rear scans the rear arc.
If you were in the tail position of your road column, it was your gunner's responsibility to watch the air behind your column so that kind of trailing attack could have been caught. Blame it on your gunner's incompetence. |

Traded it back in for my Sparrow MAX. I'm just not a fan of the buggies in this game I guess. And maybe it's just me but that thing felt sluggish in it's turn radius, then again I'm used to driving tanks and tanks can turn in place

The fact that you can't see the cannon rounds when firing into the air make it pretty hard to adjust your aim when moving. I think a lot of gunners will be happy when that's fixed. I haven't actually used the skyguard in combat yet, but I've heard a lot of people complaining about how hard it was to aim it properly.
