Does anyone know if it's possible to install an older version of Direct X so that I can use other programs? I have a program called Sonar 2.0 (Cakewalk) and it requires DX8.1, but I have 9.0. The MS website "claims" that 9.0 is backwards compatible with all programs, but apparently it's not.
If anyone can give some insight, I'd appreciate it.

You can uninstall DX9 (although many people think you can't) by doing this: http://www.softnews.ro/public/cat/14/4/14-4-48.shtml
I used it the other day and it worked fine, just read the readme.
