I can't get on my computer in normal mode. It stops responding as soon as I log in. Monitor gets like it is when you turn off comp but not monitor. Turns off, but the light is still going. Please help, I miss playing PS. BTW, this is being posted from my Mom's comp upstairs if you're wondering.

Need more info.

When did it start, did you do anything/install anything before this happened, etc.

Kinda sounds like a Vid card thing to me..If the monitors on and no picture, try plugging into your Mobo's monitor port see if that does anything...

Something similar happened to me last time I installed some ram except my monitor was flashing something about No Sync, eventually all it took was for me to take out the vid card..put it back in then restart, like it had to Re-Recognize it or something.

Have you been OC'ing your vid card or anything else?

Yeah sounds like a vid card prob, best bet is to check the cable to the card or if you know what ur doing turn off the power (i usally unplug it) , ground your self (usally in most of the houses that are older there is always a metal strip that is on the corner of walls it can ground u but becareful if you dont ground properly a static discharge can fry your machine), cack the case, and push the vid card in with minimal effort.

Try resetting your mobo. (take out little battery on motherboard, wait a minute or so and put it back in.) Had a similar problem when I was screwing with my bios settings.

**Shudder** Triple check to make sure you are grounded. I fried my mobo once and didn't realize what was wrong for a month. My computer would turn on but not do anything. If I had known about grounding myself I would have saved myself much grief

Hello,

We'd need more information please. This should be moved to the tech forum, right?

Does the computer have a motherboard video port on it? Switch the video cable to the monitor to the motherboard's port if it does, and try to boot the machine that way.

As people have asked already, did you change anything recently? Software or hardware? Patched the machine? Any power surges in the house that you know of lately?

You said above that you can logon, but then the monitor stops working? Are you getting a bootup screen and the monitor only stops working once your logging into windows? If this is the case, you might have set your video card settings beyond what the monitor can support under your profile. Reboot the computer and tap F8 while it is booting. Boot the computer using "VGA Mode" or "Safe Mode." If that lets you get into your profile, then once in change the video card settings to something lower.

Thanks,
