hey, now. the AA max isn't bad at all.
my alt character (Rubble, Vanu on Emerald) has both the starfire and the quasar MAX and he uses the starfire almost exclusively. if you're at all good with it, it takes only a clip and a few to take out a reaver, and reloading isn't that bad. you just have to take them by surprise, and achieve the weapons lock as late as possible. it's also not too bad against infantry, because while you're reloading they're taking plasma damage. it's not particularly good against infantry, but since it's a MAX it will always be better than most other weapons.

i haven't used the lasher or lancer yet (outside of VR), but i know the lasher is going to rock even more after the patch, and skilled lancer users still manage to get a lot of kills.

it's getting to the point that the only real underpowered VS weapon is the beamer, which manages to suck forever.

what you have to remember about the vanu MAXes is that they aren't designed to be as effectively damaging as the other MAXes, they're designed to be maneuverable. the starfire can get a LOT closer to an aircraft in about 3 seconds with its jumpjets, making for some awesome surprise attacks.

plus, have you EVER seen a reaver hit a jumpjetting MAX with its missles? they simply don't.
