Hi, I just started playing planetside today as VS on the Konreid server. I have a 5meg cable connection and the game lags alot. Is this how it always is, or is there a problem? How is your game, laggy, or maybe no lag whatsoever? Thanks, I just wanted to know.

Definantely lower your graphics settings. The game may look better at higher settings, but you'll enjoy the significantly smoother game play of lower settings. I use custom settings with all the goodies turned off and about 50% max viewing range.
Also when talking about lag you should post your computer specs for everyone. You can have a great connection, but if your computer isn't up to par it will do you no good. |

Also, what runs pretty good in the sanc or in a small battle might bog down really fast with 500 people in view. Set your video lower than you expect and when you run into a huge battle, you won't be caught off guard by video lag.

Funny how when someone mentions lag problems, everyone starts going on about graphics settings.
Wheres the logic? F*cked if I know. Lag, in almost all cases, means connection-based problems or slowness. Having a bad framerate is grounds for dropping settings. I would have thought this was obvious. :P |

Visual lag=different then internet lag.
Seeing as you have a freaking 5meg connex id say you are talking bout visual lag. lower vid settings and/or update (RAM good....i would recomend a gig..thing eats up over 700MB at high end settings doing nothing in sanc

1.3Ghz Amd Athlon
1024 333 DDR ram Geforce4 Ti4200 64mb ddr Some Sound Blaster Live! card Windows XP Runs flawlessly with High graphics and half the main textures (not with 32 on), but my ISP isnt that great, and sharing a cable modem with another computer might affect it too. It runs great up to semi-large battles, but once the real huge ones begin, like when there is only 1 base to attack (such as Caer on Forseral) its unplayable. Doors wont open, people will warp around, cant reload, etc. The game still runs flawlessly even then, though. |
