nasty blue screen. please help!

OK, I dont know how it happened, but now, when I start up my computer using Win2k proffesional, I get the blue screen of death. Now, the details:
I have one hard drive, partitioned into two, c and d drive. c drive has win98, d has win2k, starting up with win2k gets me no where, not even with safe mode or last known good configuration. So I am forced to start up with win98. While in 98, it does not recognize the d drive under 'my computer'. I think that what i need to do, is format the d drive, then reinstall win2k on the d drive, but this is the part i dont know how to do.
I used ms-dos by choosing 'restart using ms-dos' under shut down options. I tried, (format d but it said invalid something. but (format c works, however, that is not what i want to do. So, how can I format the d drive (to tell you the truth, i dont know why i have to do this, but that is what i have been told, and i know i dont want to lose the info on the c drive). So, what should i do? Any help would be great.
