do you guys know any games that are like, shooters where you look down on your little ship and shoot cool powerup weapons at tons of little ships, kinda like galaga, but newer. i love those arcade games and i need something to play here, i've just had a craving for them lately, but i can't find any. so something i could download as a rom (nes/snes/genesis) or any pc game, plz help me out

RPG Space Action Shooter.
It's free, but certain ships/weapons/storylines/missions are not available unless you shell out 30 smackers to get the code that activates the game.
75 MB DL.

Here's some in-game action from a battle I fought a little while ago.

"I hyper-jumped into the system, and waited for the inevitable attack. My Heraan superiors had informed of the eminent assault by the Federation. Sure enough, three Fed E-41 Destroyers jumped into the system. I was the only Auroran warrior in there, besides a lone pilot in his tiny Firebird fighter.

He charged the Feds, and I waited, hoping for reinforcements to jump in. My Light Warship Class C Modified Starbridge was powerful, but against three Destroyers? The poor ship was quickly disabled, and floated off in the vacuum of space. No reinforcements were coming, I was on my own. The targeting computer picked up Auroran weapons on the Feds. This would be a tough fight indeed.

I hit the afterburner, bringing me in close. The Destroyers quickly emptied their missile reserves at me, mostly missing or hitting the floating asteroids nearby. I kept circling them, using my vastly superior speed and turn radius against them. Sure enough, if I moved in close they hammered me with Fusion Pulse Cannon fire. I had FPCs of my own, and I fired back. But, they also opened up with devastating Quad Light Blaster Turret fire as well. My shields rapidly started draining.

I danced away, and continued circling while my shields regenerated. In addition to my FPC, I also had two Medium Blasters, one Medium Blaster turret, and a 100mm Railgun. I kept my distance, blasting them with my Railguns. It had a much longer range than any of their weapons.

Soon, one was disabled. I would board it later and steal its credits and cargo. Maybe, if the crew was small enough I could attempt to subdue them and steal the ship. Another one went down, and now, with my shields recharged, I decided to brawl with the last E-41.

It was low on shields, my Railguns having hammered away. I blasted close to it and opened up with all my weapons. I flew over it, and quickly turned around and laid down my deadly barrage of laser fire. It was disabled too.

What's this? I couldn't board them? I easily destroyed all three as they floated helpless in space. I landed on the nearby station to collect my pay for defending these brave people.
I jumped out of the system, plotting a course to home base to recieve another mission."

That's basically what happened. It's an excellent game.
