Changes to the Galaxy and Deliverer


I was thinking about two other posts about the deliverer being the unappreciated stepchild and one about the galaxy. These got me thinking "what would help both of these vehicles get used more?".

Here are the changes I propose.


Galaxy: The load out and speed are appropriate for what it is, but the galaxy should be able to do something to support the troops after it has hot dropped. I think it should have the side guns replaced by 75mm guns like the sunderer, or have a 50mm or 75mm gun forward facing that is controllable (not manueverable) by the pilot. Or put that gun side facing like those C-130 gunships. This would encourage the use of the galaxy.

Deliverer: Either add the ability for 1 max to be carried, or replace the guns ontop with 50mm cannons. Either would make it more useful. Another solution would be to let it be driven by reinforced armor, or add a forward facing gun for the driver.

Well thats it what do you guys think?

I personaly think the galaxy is fine if you beefed up it's weapons loadout what really whould be the point of using the sunderer. The main reason the galaxy is not utilized is two folkd A) people are selfish and do not want to spend three points on a transport, no matter how usefull B) People who can tend to take their own transport when possible with a few exceptions.

The most use I personaly have ever gotten out of a galaxy I think has been from after what members of my squad that need a ride have gotten on broadcasting to the other faction members at large that a gal/sunderer is leaving and for where. THis usualy nets me a full gal of troopers ready to drop into harms way over an enemy base.

Any transport craft excels best in multisquad outfit situations where the capita of people without their own vehicle cert will be higher ensuring every seat is filled.

Ah yes this does answer the galaxy question. But even if the loadout was beefed up a little, the limited locations that you can get the galaxy would still limit its use. But I also get from your post that the galaxy might become more popular when they add platoons?

Ok but what about my ideas on the deliverer?

I think a forward facing gun on the Gal would be great. I mean, the lib has it, and it's barely used at all. Just seems unfair to us dedicated Gal pilots that we cant kill anything without landing on it.

As for the Deliverer, I think all they need is to up its land speed a little, and its water speed a whole lot.

The only reason the Gal isnt used more is because of its accessibility. The power of the Gal isnt weapons... its the ability to hot drop troops, maxes, and a vehicle. If you wanted to make the Gal used more, they would just need to ease its availability. It would be nice if they allowed Gals to be purchased at Tech Centers since they actually have a seperate air-vehicle pad there(would be an easy change for the Devs to implement).

Don't fuck with anything on the gal, it's fine the way it is, it's cargo is supposed to kill shit, not it, if the average PS player is to stupid to grasp that, thats their problem. And the only changes the Deliverer needs is to make it move faster in water and/or let reinforced drive it, maybe bump it up to 4 if they let reinforced drive it.

Way back in the day, before release, and even beta, to my knowledge, the side guns on the gal were 75mm cannons. It looked fairly rediclious, but it served the purpose.

I'd like to see them reintroduce that varient onto the test servers just so I can try it, lol, firepower must have been insane.

The side gun of the gal, have never been to my knowledge been 75mm nor should they other. I must agree with incompetants message if not his verbage.

I think upping the speed of the deliverer in water is all thats needed to change it. The deliverer excels at antiinfantry work, and it's fair at killing airpower. It's a fireteam transport and not meant to be anything more. Stop thinking that everything needs to be an abrams and start thinking that some things need to be a landing craft.

My post about the Deliverer was intended to draw attention to the advantages of the vehicle. Hopfully some people will try it out and be as impressed as I was.

Being a gal pilot for my outfit is a very rewarding thing, plus the thing is damn huge that when I ditch it after they hot drop (its so impossible to land it I dont even try anymore) it's likely to land on someone, I dont get credit, but its not like killing someone while in a squad gets you any xp anyway. As for the short bus, I don't see a need to increase its land speed, but its water speed is dreadfully slow, but its a good way to get around mined bridges.

Maybe they should create another vehicle that carries maybe 6 people and is something like the C-130 gunship, give it cannons and such. If you've ever played the desert combat mod for BF 42 you know what I'm talking about.
