True it is but it also is not as good as a 9700. I've found some Saphire Atlantis 9800 128mb non pro's for $200 bucks. Seems like a nice deal to me but I could be wrong.

For your price range it sounds like the 9800NP is your best deal. You can generally bios update/oc them up to Pro speeds rather well. But if your wanting to do this, spend the extra time to find the board manufacturer that uses the best memory as the memory speed is going to make the difference in how much you can OC it. I suggest checking the Rage3d forums for the best 9800NP model for OC'ing. I haven't really researched the subject as I have the Pro.

Personally though I don't really care for that mb/chip combo to much. Never liked Albatron mb's, plus that one is pretty mini with few pci slots. Plus the xp2600 you have picked out is not a Barton. The xp2500 would be a better choice, or one of the new xp2600 Barton's.

5600 isn't the DX9 card you're looking for. Get a 5900U or a 9600pro at least. The 5900U is the only nVidia card that can handle(and it does it badly) DX9.
This is quite clearly wrong i don't know where you got this idea from but the 5600 is a Fully complient DX9 board. I have one and 3D mark 03 runs it (patched to get rid of "optimizations") nicely without to much slowdown. The 5600 is a cost effective way of future proofing your pc. But all you Americans seem to like ATI which is fine by me I have had bad experiance with radeons personally and nvidia are my mother board maker equalling faster speeds than normall .

This is also wrong because half-life 2 is not available to anyone let alone to bench mark in the card warsTM. also i odn't really want to get into an argmaent about such trivial matters as HL2 which will be out when its out but look at non biased non canadian/american (to an extent) and the 5600 beats the radeon equivilent hands down also i've just received my new PC

Athlon 2600
nforce 2 board
SB live 5.1(ok i skimped there)
MSI GEforce 5600 256mb
512mb decent ram
all for 478 (not dollers) includin windows XP

and BF1942 runs beeutifully on it
