I agree with Warborn, the Eldar (Protoss look-alike) emphasize greater numbers, while the Marines (Terran look-alike) emphasize greater strength, which is thrown out of whack in StarCraft.

It's not really a copy in my opinion. I don't see any Terminator suits (Main marine unit) in StarCraft, do you?

you're right, there are no terminator suits in starcraft. they're called 'powered combat suits'. nothing at all like terminator suits. nope, not a bit. wink wink.

in both games the three races play to the same tunes, eldar/protoss are quality, tyranids/zerg are quantity, and space marines.....and marines are flexibility

starcraft marine = just about every WH40k marine, but we'll stick with ultramarines

starcraft zergling = WH40K Termagant

ultralisk? riiiiiight. try carnifex

starcraft zealot = once again just about every eldar foot troop, but I'll single out the howling banshees for melee

The way I remember it, using the term "nerf" to mean a reduction of power came from Ultima Online. Originally, archers were incredibly powerful. They could plunk away and kill pretty much anything they wanted without having to worry about getting hurt. The devs toned down/ridiculously reduced in power (depending on who you talk to) archers. People started complaining that the devs replaced their normal arrows with Nerf arrows (pieces of foam). Now anytime something is reduced in power, the weapon/skill/class/race/happy fun ball/tank/neato keen ability has been "nerfed".
