I haven't tried the NC Sparrow yet, but the Starfire locks onto the target as soon as you place the reticule over it. That's why slow or stationary targets are so easy to kill.
MAX units are slow to turn, so use that to your advantage. Make it hard for them to track you and you're one step closer to being a better pilot. When TR or VS AA MAXs open up on you, duck behind cover so the VS lose lock on and the TR can't hit what they can't see. Against the NC Sparrow, try and limit how long you stay in their sight. The less time they maintain lock on, the fewer missiles you'll have chasing you down. Of course I shouldn't be saying any of this. Potentially fewer kills for me if you pilots get better. |

it's quite easy to evade missile locks (i've flown as NC,VS,TR).
1)stay low 2)use the terrain to your advantage 3)don't hover over a target like a newb, do mutiple runs on it, launching as many rockets as you can per run 4)always fallback, repair when you get hit by an AA max. i wouldnt be able to count then number of times i've escaped with 10-20% armor after an encounter with an AA max |

if it wasnt for AA maxes, who'd kill the reavers? And wouldnt everyone want to be a reaver pilot if there were almost no dangers in being a pilot?

the reason they have a aa max is becuse its the chepest 1 becuse it does the lest amount of damge 2 infatry and the most 2 aircraft. 2 avoid fire in a reaver or a mos is only for the skilled. you have 2 be going in circles and cut around trees. this is easy in a reaver but near imposible with a mos if your not good with it. and just for u the amount of damage the aa maxes did 2 aircraft at the beginig of the game

Mosq's outrun missiles just by opening up the throttle fully. Whoever mentioned something about stationary vehicles being harder to lock is also wrong as the game doesnt track whether engines are going or not for the purposes of establishing a lock.

If you want to kill a Burster MAX, just get within 20 feet of him and he can't do anything to you. The closer the better. The Bursters shells need some distance before they arm. If you get within that minimum distance, he can't damage you.
I once pinned a Burster into a corner and unloaded my Pulsar with AP into him until he dropped. I had a good /t with him afterwards and let him know what he did wrong. He was totally unaware of the Bursters limitations. I like the Burster, though. My TR character carries that cert all the time. |

I must say that I have a a certain love of the NC Sparrow.
Along with my Galaxy Cert, it's one of my longest running pieces of equipment. But killing Reavers is no mean feat, if they get behind you and start firing, the turning ability of a MAX suit basically means you get buggered. Saying that though, the Sparrow has already been nerfed (so I hear), when the game first came out, you only had to get the lock for the first shot, then you could just fire off the rest of the clip wherever you liked (well, general direction) and they'd all connect... Now you have to maintain the lock for each and every shot... It still rocks though Dym |
